I enjoy 2 songs from Book Of Souls: If Eternity Should Fail and Speed Of Light.
I revisit those two from time to time.

If Eternity Should Fail is great. The Red and the Black is one of their best. Death or Glory is real good, one of my favourites. And of course the closing epic is fantastic.
Title track is pretty good, too. I like it. I'd say the Book of Souls is better than The Final Frontier. Though I really like the run of four tracks at the end of Final Frontier. Book of Souls is also so long it can afford some filler. Something a shorter one couldn't, because then there is not enough good stuff left.
I do like to have everything in once nice package. I'd rather not collect those extra tracks separately as b-sides and bonus tracks on different editions.

If Book Of Souls is any indication for me the longer tracks will be the good choices not the shortest.

Iron Maiden are obviously giving us some juicy material, which we will spend countless hours listening to and trying to fully digest.

“The Writing on the Wall” is starting to grow on me, but it’s kind of underwhelming like Enter Sandman. Not good or bad… it’s just okay.

I like it. Sounds like 80's Maiden. A Janick song. He is the only one who still lives and breathes NWOBHM.

I have heard that now gazillion times from our Radio Rock while driving car and the start of the song fools me every single time to some Aerosmith tune.. and then I realize "ok this was not Aerosmith, it is the new Maiden tune". And I'm not sure is this association good or bad. I love some Aerosmith here and there, but as a Maiden tune, not convinced.
I grew up to Maiden as a little kid via Powerslave and loved the band since. Last albums have unfortunately shown me the spirit is gone. Is it in my head or is it the fact that they have lost "the factor" in songwriting.

At some point, they get older and go through the motions. Nothing can stay fresh forever. Maiden has a formula they like and basically stick to. I think the only one that throws a little curve ball once in a while is Adrian Smith. Dave Murray is great, but he hasn’t even written a song in a while. And none on the new album. But Gers did…

He doesn’t get enough credit for keeping the Maiden spirit alive. He is also a good showman. He used to always get criticized for dancing around and doing his stage antics… but I liked it. And he also writes good songs.

The new song makes up for the previous one. Much closer to the Maiden we love!

Janick is a great guitar player, and i love his live show .
Actually, he's my favourite Maiden member .

Yes, I do actually like that song. Gives me hope the album will be a step in the right direction. Love to hear a couple more soon.

Revisiting Book of Souls tonight, and one thing I really can do without on this or any upcoming Maiden albums, is the Whoa ohhhhh ahh ahhhhhha.....whoa ahhh ahh whoa crap they seem stuck on doing at least once a album now. I get it, great crowd interaction, fun to sing along to in concert, but you have enough songs with that shit in it now, so just play one of those and move on.

Yeh. Getting old, we all do.
But I think aging is not all. Judas Priest has stayed powerful over the decades and they are also old.

I´ll check this album out, like all their albums. If it is a keeper I'll buy the product.

True, so many bands are getting old, while remaining true to their sound. In addition to Priest, i would also cite Saxon, UDO and Accept, only to name a few.
I will buy the new Maiden album. Still have a blind loyalty towards this band.
