Bottom line, the art causes contrversy and will get them attention...just look at this thread. What better way to cause contreversy and appear "dangerous" and get attention than to combine devils and crucifixes on an album cover?

A song about his upbringing in Catholic school and how the image of Christ on the cross and the thought of a holy "ghost" scared him as a little boy...it's a song about fear of something.

"On the rise" is not the same as a couple thousand years of ultra-high visibility. Plus, Christians don't blow $h!t up when you piss them off...they just whine about it.

Very true but Iommi and Dio are in their 60's and they grew up in a cultural where Chrisitianity is the religious belief that was and is prevelant, not Islam.

When Christ is shown as weaker than satan then it's beyond a metaphor. Even if the artist meant it that way the band is using it as a slam.

And risk getting blown up? Not me...I'd rather pick on the religious group that thinks they have a handle on God AND is always getting in faces/on TV letting people know about it whenever they see something they don't like...not the ones who blow $h!t up.

I also don't think this cover is that controversial.....its nothing new, we've all seen this kind of thing before and its becoming more and more common place. Its a cool looking cover for sure. I just think the added floating crucifixes are pointless and distracting, the piece would be a lot better IMO without them.

I also think the controversy that is arising here are from people that just won't let ToB have his opinion. He stated his opinion, like it or not, and sticks by what he sees as right and wrong for him. What's wrong with that? The man just doesn't want this kind of imagery in his life any longer. I don't have a problem with that and I doubt Black Sabbath/H&H do either.
