most likely because he was never in a band long enough!

Jon Schaffer turned himself in to authorities this weekend: https://www.blabbermouth.net/news/iced-earths-jon-schaffer-arrested-for-role-in-capitol-riot/

Also, apparently Luke Appleton, the bass player is out.
I suppose that was inevitable.
Since Jon will presumably be tied up with, errr, let's just call them "certain legal issues" for the foreseeable future, is there even really a "band" for them to leave at this point?

Megadeth deja vu...
Reminds me of when Shawn Drover and Chris Broderick quit Megadeth at the same time. (obviously for a different reason)
At the end of the day, Jon Schaffer is just like Dave Mustaine. He is the heart and visionary of his band. He will eventually rebuild. Both bands have also had revolving doors of “hired guns”. That said, I’m sure it will be harder to replace Stu Block than the other positions.

Don't think so, but he's still coolin' his heels in jail in Indiana, waiting to be shipped to D.C.
.....aaaaaand on a related note, I.E.'s other guitar player has announced that he's jumping ship too.

Ultimately, I think Jon will get probation. This is a reset moment for Iced Earth.

How long can the government hold you without charges?

So I guess that just leaves Jon and the drummer. For now...

Not sure... but I wouldn’t be surprised if there is a messed up law on the books from Bush’s “patriot act” that can hold you without pressing charges.

I am pretty sure if he is charged as a terrorist, they can pretty much bury him without a trial because of the patriot act. At least I seem to remember that's one of the things they can do. I'd google it, but I'm sure James will correct me soon enough lol
Far as how long they can hold someone without charge, I'm not sure. From my understanding, it's not very long. So either they charged him and nobody knows what the charge is, or they are breaking the law, or because of his alleged crime, there might be something they are using to keep him longer than normal. James?

If he had just been arrested by Indiana PD, he'd already be out of jail. Or charged with something if not. But all this shit is federal, so I'm assuming the laws are different there.

You are correct The Patriot Act allows detaining terrorists indefinitely without formal charges or trial.
I would think he'd be in Federal custody already if that was the case? Some jurisdictions have city, county, state , and federal holding in the same facility? Do not the case in Indiana.
