Y'all should see the user reviews of the new "Halloween" on IMDB, it's lit up like a Christmas tree over there. Apparently a copy of the movie leaked onto the Net and there are dozens and dozens of reviews from armchair critics, good and bad.
All I can say, without having seen the movie yet, is that I would rather see Rob Zombie's "rebooting" or "reimagining" of the original than yet another useless sequel starring Busta Rhymes (or whoever the hell was in the last one... gack!!!)

Rumor had it that Rob Zombie's next film project was going to be a remake of the cheesy 80s monsterfest "C.H.U.D.," but now it seems those rumors have been shot down. That's fine by me... C.H.U.D. doesnt' NEED to be remade, it's perfect the way it is! A classic slice of low budget, '80s drive-in movie sleaze.
ROB ZOMBIE NOT DIRECTING REMAKE OF "C.H.U.D." The Pulse of Radio reports: Despite stories spreading on horror movie news sites across the Web, Rob Zombie is not directing a remake of the '80s horror B-movie classic "C.H.U.D." An article at Billboard.com reported on Tuesday (November 6) that Zombie was tentatively set to helm the project for a 2009 release, but a spokesperson for his management confirmed to The Pulse of Radio exclusively that the unsourced information was "not true." "C.H.U.D.", a low-budget 1984 shocker about mutated vagrants (Cannibalistic Humanoid Underground Dwellers, to be exact) living under the streets of New York, has been the subject of remake speculation. Zombie did say earlier this week in a call with reporters that he is in the early stages of planning his fourth feature film as a director, but hasn't set a timetable for making it. "You know, right now I don't know how that's gonna be because, like, the writers just went on strike and the directors will go on strike soon, so I'm not sure how that whole world's gonna pan out," he said. "Right now is really the worst time to try to plan the next year." Zombie would not reveal any other details of his next film project, except to say that it's "not a horror movie."

I have it on DVD!!
It is truly the definitive film on the subject of carnivorous giant rabbits.
I'm surprised someone else knows that one... you know how many times I've described it to people and they've accused me of making it up??

I remember that one from when I was a kid (although I think it was made before I was born). My Dad always loved the old horror movies and raised me up right on Godzilla, The Thing, ect...all the old B&W's....and then of course the new ones.
Some of my fondest memories ever are Wednesday nights. My Mom had choir practice and so Dad and I would have Horror Movie Night. We saw some great ones and some crap but I wouldn't trade one!! Spawn Of The Slithis (or something like that!) Silent Night, Deadly Night (classic! "Punishment is neccessary, it is good!") Night of the Creeps, Aliens, Predator, Hellraiser, C.H.U.D., Killer Clowns From Outer Space, etc....etc....

I never thought I would miss the "innocence" of 80's horror movies. Cheesy was the name of the game back then, and I still love it.
I have serious issues with the immense gore and torture porn in some of the new flicks.

I tend to get turned off by the gory movies. However, from 2003 to 2006, my best friend lived at my dad's house with me and he loved horror movies so much that I watched them as well. My main problem with slasher films is I don't find joy in watching a simulated torturing and killing of people who's only crime was being stupid (like the teenagers in House of 1000 Corpses). But I have no problem with them when the killer/mutilator/torturer get whats comming to them (like See No Evil, Hostel, The Hills Have Eyes, etc.) With the exception of Jason, Freddie, Myers, Pinhead, etc. I can't stand it when the bad guys don't suffer consequences (House Of 1000 Corpses). I prefer real scarry/creepy movies like The Birds, The Shining, 1408, The Grudge (the first one had me jumping out of my seat and yelling while the second one gave my goosebumps, goosebumps; creepy!), etc.
I must admit though I do LOVE the first two Evil Dead movies (the third was funny but not horror) mainly due to how hilarious they are. Bruce Campbell is the man!!!

That was a good one. What sucks is that the idea to have his character in the next Freddy vs. Jason movies was a no go (I would have LOVED to see that). Even though it's not horror, Bruce is real good in that new USA show, Burn Notice.

Oooh man, "S.N.D.N." is a nasty one. Remember when that movie came out in back in the 80s? The TV commercials scared the crap out of so many kids that a bunch of parents groups got together PMRC style and managed to get it banned from theatres! I remember when it got released on video it had a big banner on the cover that said "The Movie THEY Didn't Want You To See," hahaha.
I rented it when it first came out on video and though I liked it, the entire concept (killer Santa!) was just so WRONG, so... SLEAZY, I felt like I needed to take a shower after watching it. I'm glad I saw it in the middle of the summer instead of during the Christmas season, cuz it probably would've ruined Christmas for me for the rest of my life!!

Yea, that was the sequel ("Piranha II: The Spawning") -- sorry, no luck finding a trailer on YouTube. Believe it or not, Piranha II was the directorial debut of James Cameron, he of "Terminator" and "Titanic" fame. I guess everybody's gotta start someplace.

If I'm looking for great B-movie horror flicks, I go back to the late 50s and 60s.
Stuff like:
Fiend Without A Face The Flesheaters Attack of the Crab Monsters any Ray HarryHausen movie and of course, Toho's rubber suit monsters.
Or 70s stuff like:
Bloodsucking Freaks Friday 13th Halloween
Other than stuff like that, I stick with Asian horror.
