So here is the thread discuss, list and pratle on about our favorite horror films...**
Here are some of my all time faves: SOCIETY, SANTA SANGRE, PSYCHO, DOG SOLDIERS, TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE (orig.), DEAD ZONE, SESSION 9, DEVIL'S BACKBONE, CRONOS, AFRAID OF THE DARK, EVIL DEAD, UZUMAKI, DEAD & BURIED, JAWS, THE SENTNEL, EXORCIST, AUDITION, WARLOCK MOON, THE MUMMY'S HAND, THE BLOB, RITUALS, SSSSSSSSSSSSS!, THE BROOD, I could go on forever....
**if you don't like horror films, please refrain from crashing this thread with posts about how you don't like these things or whatever... _________________ "Oh man, I need TV? When I got T Rex"

| Oh yes, I do love me some horror movies... I don't get to see as many of them as I used to due to having a four year old around the house but years back, I used to either see every new horror flick that came down the pike in the theatre, or rent'em on video... now I'm lucky if I see one every few months... Anyway, some favorites, old and new: "Halloween" (1978) -- I am also interested in seeing Rob Zombie's take on it later this year... Of the "Halloween" sequels I like part II, 4, and "H20", you can keep the rest... although the unrelated "Halloween III: Season of the Witch" is good for some unintentional laughs "The Amityville Horror" (1979) -- scared the poop outta me when I was a kid!! "The Omen" - I always liked this one better than "The Exorcist" (which is great too, but a tad overrated IMHO) "Freddy Vs. Jason" - I almost hate to admit that I love this movie, but it was the match up I'd been waiting to see since I was about fifteen years old!! "Final Destination" - I ignored this one when it first came out cuz it came along at the ass end of the 90s "teen horror" craze (i.e. "Scream," "I Know What You Did...", etc.) so I assumed it was more of the same, but when I finally did see it it knocked me out. Part 2 was kinda lame but the 3rd one was pretty kick-ass too. "Candyman" - Is there anyone in Hollywood who has a creepier voice than Tony Todd? "The Cell" - not exactly a pure horror flick but definitely has its "WTF?" moments. J-Lo was actually a pretty decent actress in this one as well. "Piranha" - one of my favorite "killer creature" movies, used to see this one on Saturday afternoon TV all the time when I was a teen. I hear there's a remake of it in the works. I hope they don't screw it up TOO bad... Of course, the original "Friday the 13th" still gets an occasional spin round my DVD player, as do several of the sequels (parts VI and VII are my favorites of those...), ditto for most of the "Elm Street" series, the "Hellraisers," etc., etc... I even have a weak spot for the seemingly never ending direct-to-DVD "Children of the Corn" sequels, even though none of them have been particularly good... I just keep renting them out of some weird sense of duty, I guess. I could go on and on but you get the idea, I'll let someone else have a turn now. | |

| LOVE horror movies! Among my favorites:
The Alien Franchise - I like all of them!
Halloween I & II
28 Days Later - My all-time favorite "zombie" flick!
Texas Chainsaw Massacre (original)
All of the 'Saw' movies are pretty good
The Omen
The Exorcist
C.H.U.D.
Prophecy (this one is rather obscure...it's a cult classic in my own home and extended family. I also spread it's unitentional joy/comedy to two different colleges...pure cheese!) Anyone else seen this??
I'll leave the rest for others to name....I LOVE horror movies and will give almost all of them at least one spin!

| Guinea Pig is Japanese isn't it? Pretty infamous torture flick, with an infamous eye piercing scene. A very violent film. There are a bunch of them in the series isn't there?. Sounds pretty awesome. I like me some gore. | |

| yeah it's a japanese film.. but the most violent flick i've ever witnessed. there is a rumor that the actor Charlie Sheen (another horror buff) bought a "pig" movie bootlegged & thought it was an actual snuff film. he contacted the FBI. the original one is called "The Devils Experiment" there was also... Flower Of Flesh & Blood (as viewed by Sheen) Mermaid in A Manhole Android of Notre Dame Devil Woman Doctor none were as good as the original, but still better than 99% of the gore/horror movies out there. cheers Spirit for knowing quality! _________________ | |

| My favorite kind of movies are period dramas! I'm not a big horror fan, though I do have Brotherhood of the Wolf, which is like both. |

I have the movie poster from the flick.... Mr. Mitchell?!?!? (that's my middle name ) Yes!! That's the one!!! I'd pay for that poster!!! I've been able to replicate the baby mutated bears' mewling sound for decades now. It's my favorite noise!! There's obscure quotes from that movie that entertain only myself and one or two other people on the planet. It is a classic, especiallly for unintentional comedy!

| I can't part with that poster.....I got it for my son....it hangs in his bedroom...and I don't think he'd let it go....But I'll ask him
That move is rife with unitentional funniness....
It's set in New England and the indians are in teepees (That was a plains Indian thing)
It is just so serious for the big ball o' cheese that it is.... _________________ "Oh man, I need TV? When I got T Rex"

| Shiney isn't that avator from Evil Dead?.... Myself I've gotten away from the Gore fest stuff.. I usta be a big fan of that until about 1988-90.... I still think the original 'Halloween' is one of the greatest scare movies ever... brilliant stuff... "The Shining"... stanley kubrick is/was a genius... Stuff I really dig Godzilla (not the 1970's stuff) a nut about those films.. it drives my wife crazy I'm sure.. (got over 20 of those films..) Both versions of the 'The Thing'... sacriledge their taking about remaking it again... I love 50's sci-fi.... Anything with Ray Harryhausen stuff... 'Seventh Voyage of Sinbad', 'Jason and the Argonauts'.... I do like M. Night Shamylan stuff... He has tried to incorporate old style creepy stuff..... (not always sucessfully). Alfred Hitchcock.... dude Rear Window.... " let's cut up my wife and ship her out in a brief case".... brilliant... The Twilight Zone I must admit the first time I was The Ring, when the girl came out of the t.v. I bout pee'd my pants.... granted it was about 11:30 p.m. by myself...... | |

| I also used to be a huge horror/splatter fan, but gave that hobby up when I got kids. I think I had around 500 movies. My favorits icludes The Exorcist, The Omen, The Shining, Demons and of course pretty much anything from these directors: Dario Argento, John Carpenter, David Cronenberg, Lucio Fulci and others. I also had a thing for Stephen King related movies. _________________ | |

That would be "TROMA" not "Trauma," but oh yes, their stuff rules. They film all of their stuff in and around New Jersey (where I'm from) so it's always a kick to see a familiar place in the background of a Troma film. I actually watched them shoot a few scenes for "Class Of Nuke'Em High" in the parking lot of a high school near me back in the 80s, was part of a crowd scene in that, but I've never been able to find myself on screen in the movie. (Maybe I oughta look for a wide screen DVD?) When I was in high school I had an English teacher who was also a wanna-be actor, he had a bit part in the first "Toxic Avenger," he's the guy in the dry cleaner's shop who gets "pressed" to death.

I have to agree with this...I do think he does a good job of creeping out without obvious gore. Sings still creeps me out even though you hardly see an alien or any gore whatsoever..... Speaking of Peter Jackson...I love Dead Alive!!
