I like The Agonist, but I'm not sure I'd buy anything from them or not. Something about them seems to leave me a little cold for some reason.

Anyways,

Closterkeller, was Poland's first female fronted rock/metal group hailing from capital Warsaw (Warzawa). The band formed in 1988 and are still going the have released many albums, DVDs and live tapes all in Polish. They also have English versions Of Blue, Graphite and Nero. The band is currently signed to Universal Muzyka Polska (Univeral Music Poland). They have played styles from hard rock (Purple, Violet) to grunge (Blue) and gothic metal (Graphite, Nero, Aurum) to atmospheric metal (Nero). The band is fronted by my favourite metal godess Anja Orthodox who has a range of 3 octaves and can sing deep and raw, sing soft high semi-operatic notes and scream brutally (which she chooses not to do often). Her writings are also very powerful and emotional, she is a very intelligent woman and writes all the lyrics, vocal melodies and has wrote all the music for the past albums Nero and Aurum. She uses colours to represent the style or emotion/feel of the album. Blue being a cold, harsh record, Nero (black) being a dark gothic atmospheric album and so on.

Heard Malibu Barbi for the first time last Saturday. Good stuff. They were an all female raw an' dirty heavy/speed metal band with a killer singer.

I was wondering does anyone know some female fronted black metal bands? So far I can only name one and they are soft black metal more melodonic than anything else.

Anyone listen to Ironica?

I have their Consequences album, got it for €2 from a discount bin. Mostly forgettable, but the title track is awesome. Reminds me a bit of Doro.

Ironica? They're ok, nothing uber special.

The River are another great female fronted band. Their new album is one of the heaviest discs I've ever heard. That guitar tone is just immense! Too bad she quit the band though. Her kinda frail sounding voice was a nice contrast to the ultra heavy guitars.

Malibu Barbie is awesome!!! The lead singer, Leather Leone, went on to front Chastain.
