I always thought Dokken would have been ten times greater had they dropped the glam image.

Dokken QR
That's exactly what their management tried to tell them, and they refused to listen.

Obviously. Those first four Dokken albums are gold.

Lol. In my world, they only have those four albums. Unless you count Back in the Streets, even though we're not supposed to.

Back for the attack is probably my favorite for overall consistency, although under lock and key is a close second. You can't go wrong with tooth and nail, either.

Dysfunctional has some good stuff but I don't hold it in the same realm as the first four.

I love Dysfunctional. I think I may listen to that one more often nowadays than I do the "classic" stuff.
Erase the Slate and Lightning Strikes Again are pretty damn good too.
Aside from the atypical Shadowlife (which, fanboy that I am, I will still defend certain tracks) and the blah Long Way Home, the bulk of their catalog is pretty solid.

I agree with pretty much all of that.

Even the part about Shadowlife? Wow. I thought I was the only one who actually enjoyed some bits of that record.

Gotta agree. And I listened to Shadowlife a few times in the past year or so, and I enjoy it much more now than I did in the past. It's definitely their worst album, but maybe not as horrible as I once thought.

I paid 3.99 for Shadowlife a year or so after its release, when Columbia House had one of their clearance sales. For that price, it's an OK listen. If I'd paid 15 bucks for it as a new release, though, I probably would've been homicidal. Haha!

Sorry, guys. I am a . Owned all of those albums, couldn't take them.
Although I would call Don's solo album completely underrated.

Don's solo album is right up there with the first four Dokken records in my book.

Agreed. I always thought it was silly that he released it under his whole name instead of just Dokken.

Lol. According to Don and Lynch, that whole war was "The Media's" fault.

I finally was able to score a cheap copy of Don's solo album Up From The Ashes. Great album, but can someone refresh my memory as to why this was released as Don Dokken and not as a regular old Dokken album? It obviously sounds just like a Dokken record. Was he not on speaking terms with the rest of the band at that time?

The band had broken up at that point and they all hated each other.

Ah, so just like now then. Ok. I figured as much, but I didn't have my Dokken band history time-line handy. Thanks.
