Next we'll have something like Megadeth and Bowie collaborating on an album

I'm not going to listen to the sample, I'll wait until they release a full song. Lou Reed's writing style isn't conducive to "sound snippets", they are involved and need to be viewed as a whole.

x3 I would buy that in a heartbeat and S.D. is right, his songs make no sense as a snippet, they have to be heard as a whole to be appreciated or some cases to be completely disliked.

I've heard the full song.
Honestly, if you've heard the 30 second clip, you've heard the full song because that's basically it in a nutshell. The whole thing just sounds like a bridge that never goes anywhere. There is precisely one average hard rock riff that makes up the bulk of the song. It kind of picks up towards the end with a "heavy, fast" (think Load) part and some atonal guitar screeching. Hetfield sings two (brief) choruses, and Lou Reed handles the verses. I hope you love the sound of Lou Reed's voice and his profound beat poetry because you're gonna hear a whole lot more of that.
"It's definitely not a METALLICA album, or a Lou Reed album," adds Hammett. "It's something else. It's a new animal, a hybrid."
This animal needs to be put out of its misery. Seriously, are they all on drugs now or did Hetfield start drinking again or what?

God, that's horrible.
I know Lars has always gotten crap for supposedly being a bad drummer (I never thought so), but when did he completely forget how to play?
Just terrible all around.

huh..... hmmmm.....its weird. I like the music but Lou Reed kills this with the talking. We are just not used to hearing something like this so of course a lot of people aren't going to like it and I think we are expecting Lou Reed to sing a long with the song but hes being a narrorator (sp?) and that makes it difficult to get used to on its own. Its funny how this sounds like something off of Load/ReLoad. Who produced this?

I just read what someone thought about this on facebook. Thought it was pretty funny.
"If my Grandpa was giving me a lecture while i had Metallica playing in the background..This is what it would sound like!!!"

Being a big fan of Load and Reload, I can confidently say this sounds nothing like anything from those albums.
I honestly don't think Lou Reed is the problem on this song; Metallica is. The riffs are awkward and boring, the drums are weak and the random one-hit "fills" are so out of place. It's just poorly executed. It sounds like something teenagers just learning to play would do. Seriously.

It's like a TV or a soundtrack playing in the background, just for something to hear but not actually "listen" to or think about. Maybe when you are busy working on something else.
Still doubt I would ever buy this album, but who knows... now am curious to at least download the album.

It's weird - I don't hate it or think it sucks, just different. I do want to hear the whole album.
As far as the production, it was released that it was produced by Greg Fidelman (Death Magnetic engineer/mixer, World Painted Blood/Snakes For The Divine producer), Metallica, Lou Reed and Hal Willner (Lou Reed producer).

I can't stand Lou Reed's voice and those narrations. If the entire album is like that I will be very disappointed.
On the plus side, Hetfield sounds really awesome especially towards the end of the song where he sounds fiercer than he's sounded in years. However, Lou Reed (and for once not Metallica) is really dragging down this song.
I hope the rest of the album features less of Lou Reed's boring and lifeless narrations and more of Metallica's music.

The way he says "despises you, despises you" f*ck I feel like my brain is in a blender...
Lou Reed has got to be the most annoying sounding rock singer ... ever... sorry if there are any fans among you of his work but I don't see what is the big deal about him..
