Hmmmm, seems like it wasn't that long ago they released the Rust In Peace Live album. Is this becoming the new "re-record the classics" format? Fan-boy that I am, I'm sure I'll pick this up at some point, but it won't be a priority.
I don't think it's the "new" re-record the classics - I would personally rather watch the blu ray/listen to the album of a live show playing a whole album than listen to a studio version of a re-record. I'm sure I will pick this up.
I agree 100% and I am sure I will pick this up at some point myself

That's my hesitation as well. I like that album, but I don't rate it as high in the Megadeth catalog as some folks. If I were to pick an album for them to cover from beginning to end, this wouldn't be the one I'd choose. I'm sure I'll still pick it up anyway at some point. Gotta retain my fan-boy status afterall. _________________ I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was. Maybe I'm more interested in this release than I thought. I broke out Countdown...over the weekend and enjoyed it more than I remembered. I was singing along word-for-word with every song and I haven't listened to that album in years. Funny. One thing I noticed about the album is allot of studio production (intros, sound-effects, spoken word, etc.). Will they recreate that stuff for the live versions using canned effects or skip them altogether? A song like 'Captive Honor' has allot of sound effects and dialog. _________________ I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was. I would imagine they would use canned effects, Pink Floyd was doing that in 1973 on the Dark Side Of The Moon tour. It's standard practice for stuff like this. |

It certainly wouldn't surprise me. It's just that I haven't listened to that studio album in some time and I never took particular notice to so many studio effects that were used. Recreating all of it for a live setting would have been more challenging than usual for a band like Megadeth. _________________ I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was. The problem with playing along to pre-recorded sound effects is it basically cancels out any possibility of altering the arrangement of a song or turning it into an extended jam, forcing the band to play the song almost identically to the studio version. Of course that probably won't be a problem for Megadeth, not exactly the first band that pops into my head when I think improvisation. |

Apparently he's gone. At least according to Blabbermouth: http://www.blabbermouth.net/news/drummer-shawn-drover-quits-megadeth/

Yup, plus the fact that Megadeth has gotten over the loss of Gar Samuelson & Chris Poland and then Marty Friedman & Nick Menza (not to mention Dave Ellefson for a while). I'm pretty sure that he can replace these two guys. I'm not that bothered if he doesn't though as I think his last two albums pretty much suck.

| Bummer. Won't miss Drover much, but I thought Broderick had potential. Ah well, MegaDave will carry on as he always does I suppose. Changing band members isn't anything new there. _________________ I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was. | Speaking of former members, Chris Poland, Nick Menza and James Lomenzo have an upcoming project together... http://www.blabbermouth.net/news/former-megadeth-members-to-premiere-new-music-on-inside-metal-show/ - Quote :

Might I suggest "FormerDeth"? _________________ I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was. Now what I'm with isn't it, and what's it seems weird and scary to me, and it'll happen to you, too.

| I heard rumors that this was going to go down a few weeks ago. One of the Podcasts that I listen to mentioned this after one of the hosts had gone on the Motorboat cruise. Megadeth was supposed to play that cruise but cancelled. Strangely enough, Junior and Chris Broderick still went on the Cruise. The rumor on the cruise was Megadeth had new management and they were looking to make some big changes, including not playing the Motorboat cruise because it didn't make any financial sense for the band. They also mentioned breaking up the band as well. I thought those rumors were nonsense at the time but they seem to be playing out. | |

Feeding into that, some posters on Blabbermouth have mentioned that Mustaine recently set up an auction for a bunch of Megadeth equipment and other memorabilia... http://www.blabbermouth.net/news/megadeth-to-auction-decades-of-tour-memorabilia/ Dave getting ready to pack it up and throw in the towel? Gonna try the "solo artist" thing again? I doubt it, but I guess time will tell. _________________ I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was. | A further wrinkle to that rumor was the breakup of the band was to get out of a terrible management contract with the new management. That would be followed by a reunion at some point. None of this makes sense to me as an attorney - if you hired bad management just fire them. You don't need to go through all of this nonsense. What's the worst consequence of that - a breach of contract? Big deal.

| Loomis should've waited 2 weeks and tried to audition for MEGADETH before deciding to jump into ARCH ENEMY.
For drums, I'd love to see them get Lombardo. Even Portnoy would be cool.
Or for a young drummer, Carlos Cruz from WARBRINGER.
