It's probably the most technically superior album they've released since Rust, the leads are flat-out fantastic. And how about those lyrics? It's like Dave actually tried this time.
I still think Endgame has it beat when it comes to memorability though. One major complaint is how shitty Dave sounds on this, but the guitar work is so impressive, you almost don't even care.

I don't bother with vinyl but that's actually a cool bonus.

I'm having a hard time picking out my favorite track. Solid album! I think this will end up being one of my favorites.

Fantastic album, best Megadeth in years. Amazing guitar work, Kiko shreds. Chris killed it on the drums, he is much better than Drover.

I listened to both Look Who's Talking and Last Dying Wish and didn't really like either one, glad they aren't on the LP. The Budgie cover is cool. Will check out Me Hate You later.

When I saw the track listing, I didn't see the song "Me Hate You". What version of the album has it? Is it a bonus track?

The title of the topic should really be

Just can't pass that up.
Sorry if it was already mentioned.

I liked "Me Hate You" and thought the Budgie cover was good but would probably stick out a bit in the flow of the album. "Last Dying Wish" is pretty good but I didn't really care for "Look Who's Talking" at all. One of the things I don't really care for (other than in "Sweating Bullets" and a handful of other 'Deth tunes) is Dave's talking instead of singing. I will probably grab the bonus track version at some point, I did get the deluxe package with the goggles, but it took me 3 stores to find any copy of this album and I wasn't driving anymore around MA in the winter storm.

The riff that comes in at 2:20 in "Lying In State" makes me want to start mowing down pedestrians while laughing maniacally behind the wheel....

I like it, Kiko sounds amazing and brings something fresh to the band. I'll need to listen a few more times before I decide that it's the best album since........

Has anyone tried out the virtual reality goggles? Or are they meant to be used at a concert on the tour?

They are meant to be used to watch a mini-concert on your tablet or phone through an app you download.

Wow. I wouldn't have thought in a million years to check Target's website for this. I didn't even know they sold music anymore, let alone metal. Or vinyl.

Even tho I had a feeling it would be a futile gesture, I gave my local Best Buy another shot on the way home from work tonight in the hopes that maybe they'd gotten some re-stock on the Megadeth CD - aaaaaand as I somewhat morbidly expected, I was sh*t outta luck again. So I give up. I just ordered the two-bonus-tracks version from their web site.
I can't wait till they ship my order and then follow it up with the inevitable "Please tell us about your Best Buy shopping experience" survey e-mail -- so I can tell'em how stupid it is that I couldn't even get a f**king "Best Buy Exclusive" version of a BRAND NEW CD release from their store, ON THE DAMN RELEASE DATE!
I repeat: Best Buy eats balls. If it weren't for those two extra tracks I would've bought the f*ckin' thing at WalMart. I'm such a damn fanboy! Haha

The Best Buy near me is really hit or miss. I didn't even try there but my Wife went to return something there today and told me they had quite a few copies. I gave up on them after trying in vain to get the IM and Motorhead singles with the coupons. I feel your pain, Fredo as I had to go to three stores to get myself a copy with the goggles cuz everybody was selling out.

I'm a bit disappointed.
Before I got the album, I took a listen of the bonus tracks linked in this thread and thought they were great! I got the impression that if people think these songs aren't as good as the actual tracks and would break the flow had they been included, then the actual album must be fantastic!
Then I got the album... The first three tracks are the already released single tracks. I LOVE the title track and I like the other two tracks. So, I'm thinking: "Can't wait to hear what comes after those!"
But the reality was that from the fourth song to the last song I remembered nothing after the first spin - except the amazing POISONOUS SHADOWS.
After the third spin, not much still stays in my head. DYSTOPIA and POISONOUS SHADOWS are both absolutely fantastic tracks and alone a reason to have the album in my collection. Bullet in the Head has some good moments and Conquer Or Die! is an ok instrumental. I guess Lying in State is ok too.
This is how the album fits with the post System albums: 1/2. Endgame 2/1. The System Has Failed 3. United Abominations 4. Dystopia 5. Thirteen 6. Super Collider
Not bad, but I was expecting much better. I'm glad it still managed to put two songs in my "all time favorite Megadeth tracks" list: Dystopia and Poisonous Shadows.
EDIT: maybe I should get the Japanese release as that would make the album better for me.
