| Other than These Boots, what don't you guys like about the remaster? That's the copy I have. Is there a big difference in sound quality? I really dig remasters for their sound quality and bonus tracks. | |

| I have the original COMBAT release. I would like to pick up the remastered version just because the original release is one of those "quiet" cds. You really have to crank it to hear it well. | |

As for the music, I love this album. When I first bought it, I was expecting it to sound a lot like Kill Em' All. While there are similarities, KIMB still has its own sound. The thing about Megadeth that I find so interesting is that they've followed a similar path to Metallica as far as how they each evolved musically (from straight-forward to technical to progressive to radio-friendly to more hard rock-like sound), yet Megadeth has always been more raw and less serious about themselves. Even when Megadeth began putting out more politically-conscious music with complex compositions, the band still maintained a certain old-school thrash mentality. Even though Dave might have developed a taste for money and fame, the music always seemed more down to Earth (if I'm making any sense).
Anyway, this album sounds more raw and simple that Kill Em' All. Although I like Kill Em' All (and all of Metallica's 80s albums) more, I really appreciate the very stripped-down sound of this album. I love the variety as well. The title track is my favourite tune. You won't need it to complete Vic, it was from different sessions and on a different label, so it doesn't have Vic. Hmm, thanks for the info. I think I'll still get it for the cover artwork. I assume that Hidden Treasures was remastered in that series as well, right? |

Yeah, I'm with you. I never even liked Boots much to start with. |

| There's a demo of New World order and a radio edit of a tout le monde which is exactly like the album version. Totally worth the $14 |

| The rare stuff is, yes, mostly live stuff from Wembley, and they threw in some of the rare covers like 'Never say die' and 'Strange ways', but mostly it's just the same old stuff. |

Good one! But I still don't see how you can't possibly like Youthanasia. Sure, it's no RIP but darn it, it's a good album! |

| Since people won't stop creating multiple threads on basically the same topics, i've merged all the Megadeth thread into this one. Messy? Probably! But still not as messy as having 5 or 6 Megdeth threads at onece! _________________ | |

We have no need for 5 threads about the same band at the same time. That clutters things up. _________________

| So here is a reason to not listen to other's opinions.
I heard Megadeth's Risk for the first time today. What the heck is so bad about it? Is it because he adds some melody here and then? Granted, that "Crush Em" song is horrible Mustaine cheesiness amplified 4 billion times, but the rest of the stuff is alright. Not great, but alright. The reviews I have read, I was expecting the worst album ever. I like this way better than Load and Reload. I bring those albums up only because those are the albums that peeps claim Megadeth are trying to compete with on Risk. I think I like it better than Cryptic Writings. Maybe I like it better because my expectations were so low to begin with. |

| Thank god I kept my original Combat vinyl copy of " Killing is My Business", I had no idea that on reissue that "These Boots" had been removed, I have an original cd copy of " Killing" with the original cover art, unfortunetly the cd is scratched to hell so it is unplayable but I have kept it anyway. And on that cd "These Boots" is on their. When I get around to it I will buy the reissued " Killing" but hold on to my vinyl copy, something I don't usually do when I replace it for the CD version.
I am with Spec, I do like "Risk" not my favorite Megadeth album, maybe even its their worse but every major band has an oddball album (expect AC/DC) that does not fit in with the rest of their discography, and have owned since it was released and it is certainly better than " Reload". If they had continued to make the same album over and over than fans would have complained that Megadeth has not progressed one iota. I don't not own "UA" or " System.." so I have no idea what does albums are like but I do like all of Megadeth studio albums in varying degrees.
