The campy '80s TV action series is turned into a big, loud, dumb, expensive shoot'em up, blow'em up flick (were you expecting something else?). Disposable popcorn fun.
Liam Neeson did the A-Team!!!!!

Since today's bitterly cold/snowy/windy weather was declared dangerous to human health, we hunkered down in the house and passed the time with a double feature of "Airplane!" (1980) and "Airplane II: The Sequel!" (1982). I've seen them both dozens n' dozens of times of course, but I never get tired of watching'em (or endlessly quoting 'em)!!

That's a movie? Sounds more like the weather report for my part of New Jersey right now. This morning it was minus 4, with wind chill of -20!

that is pretty much our weather report too, which is why the movie sounded appropriate. Alas, it was better to be out in the cold than have to watch this movie.

American Sniper - B-. Once again, calm down America.
It seems the Right and Left have taken a competently crafted, purely observational film about a soldier's life, and made it as political as possible. This film has zero bias--and to be honest isn't even that good. Aside from some impressive battle sequences (which thankfully ditch the handheld shakiness of today's war films) and a POWERHOUSE performance by Cooper, the characterizations are one-note, the dialogue merely functional, and the trite ending muddled at best. Whether your view of Kyle is hero or sociopath (and to be honest I don't even know the guy so I couldn't say) this lesser Eastwood title isn't really worth your time or the controversy it stirred.

Honeymoon - A-. WOW.
A genuinely creepy, unnerving piece of indie horror that starts out innocuous and deliberate, only to fall into total WTF territory full of relentless suspense. Basic premise of newlywed couple on honeymoon at a cabin in the woods makes you think you're headed for backwoods brutality, but in the second act it's hard to know what's going on as the suspense builds--and out of nowhere the rug is pulled in the third act. The acting is strong--both actor and actress are UK TV talent--and the creative and psychological scripting/direction with rounded characterizations is a refreshing change from the current saturation of generic horror titles floating about. I sincerely cared about this couple's outcome. I didn't expect a whole lot, but I got knocked in the face. TBH, I have all the lights in the house on right now--that kind of scary hasn't happened to me in a long time. Recommended (especially for married people).
