Pretty cool song.
Yeah, I think it's great. It was also issued on the limited edition Tournado box set.

I doubt that price will ever drop. I thought it was kind of a weird box set anyway. I mean, I like Killing the Dragon a lot but I thought it was an odd choice, especially considering "Electra" is from the Magica sequel. Hopefully "Electra" will get released elsewhere. I would love for some type of rarities/unreleased/demo CD to pop up from Wendy.

I'm betting there will be a final box-set with a bunch of demos, etc. that'll be released by Niji at some point.
But yeah, I love Electra; I got the single with the Tournado box, and it's just plain awesome.

Went to the memorial on Sunday. It was a beautiful service but absolutely heart breaking. Especially when his son spoke. You'll be happy to know the Westboro Baptist bastards weren't allowed in, they stood at the entrance with their "God hates pileofsticks enablers" signs. There was ten of them tops. There were more Dio fans mixed in, and a giant DIO RULES sign overshadowed the others. I can scan the program if anyone is interested. It's got some really beautiful photos. It will make you cry though.
Rock in Peace my friend. <33345678910

Thanks for the comments, Virginia! Yeah, there's some photos of the WB people and some Dio fans holding signs making fun of them. That program sounds really cool, we would love to read it if you don't mind scanning.

The surviving members of Heaven And Hell will play Classic Rock’s High Voltage festival with special guest vocalists, as a tribute to their late frontman Ronnie James Dio.
On May 16, Dio passed away and the world mourned the loss of the greatest voice of heavy metal.
Heaven And Hell were set to be on the road in Europe this summer when news came through that despite the amazing progress he was making Ronnie wouldn’t be well enough to tour and those shows were cancelled.
But now, remaining members Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler and Vinny Appice are set to play a one-off show to celebrate Dio’s life and work at Classic Rock’s High Voltage festival.
The band will be completed by Glenn Hughes and Jorn Lande, who will both contribute vocals.
Former Deep Purple/Black Sabbath star Glenn Hughes was a close friend of Ronnie’s for many years and performed a musical tribute at Ronnie’s funeral service in Los Angeles.
Norwegian Jorn Lande is best known in the UK as the vocalist for power-metal band Masterplan; he has also released many solo albums including a tribute to Ronnie.
Heaven And Hell bassist Geezer Butler says:
“It’s going to be a very emotional occasion. Ronnie loved his fans like no one else I know – and they loved him. It will be a privilege doing a gig in honour of his memory, and to help towards his charity. Above all, I hope it encourages people to have regular check-ups for this disease. Early detection is vital, and greatly improves the chance of a cure. I know everyone has heard that a million times before, but seeing one of your best friends die because we all think we’re immune from this disease, really brings it home. Do it for yourself, your family, your friends. Ronnie would be proud of you.”
Guitarist Tony Iommi adds:
“Ronnie’s passing has left a huge hole, we hadn’t anywhere near finished what we set out to do as a band together. He was so looking forward to the European tour and we hope this appearance will go some way to fulfilling that.”
There follows details of the Ronnie James Dio ‘Stand Up And Shout’ Cancer Fund Programme:
* The fund is committed to the early detection and prevention of cancer through facilitating access to medical screening and medical educational programmes.
* The fund supports programs designed to integrate medical knowledge into local communities such as cancer screening programs, education on nutrition in cancer prevention, exercise and overall wellness.
* The goal of the fund is to reduce the risk of developing life threatening cancers by offering access to preventative medical services.
* Furthering the commitment for patients to access to quality medical care related to cancer, the fund seeks to assist families burdened by the cost of caring for loved ones with cancer.

Classic Rock’s High Voltage festival takes place July 24/25 at London’s Victoria Park.

A very cool and touching statement from Deep Purple man, Steve Morse:
DEEP PURPLE guitarist Steve Morse has released the following statement regarding the passing of legendary heavy metal singer Ronnie James Dio (DIO, HEAVEN & HELL, BLACK SABBATH, RAINBOW): "Ronnie Dio was a real musician. He was a guy that everybody liked, and always sang loud, in tune, and strong, with that famous voice. I watched him patiently deal with fans at the stage door, and patiently deal with me when I was lucky enough to back him up on our orchestra tour (DEEP PURPLE and orchestra with special friends). We backed him up doing a couple of his tunes, and he was tactful and precise with his constructive comments. He could tell if I played one note wrong. I recall him telling me that he used to play trumpet, which might explain his very good ears. "Everybody that ever met him will miss him, as well as anybody who ever heard him sing."

from Ian Gillan :
DEEP PURPLE vocalist Ian Gillan has released the following statement regarding the passing of legendary heavy metal singer Ronnie James Dio (DIO, HEAVEN & HELL, BLACK SABBATH, RAINBOW):
"My dear friend Ronnie,
"Departed but not gone. Resting peacefully (for a while) but never forgotten.
"I've had a sackful of mail since your passing; a sharing of grief and sorrow.
"We all remember your huge voice, of course — my ears are still ringing: Your wicked humour and sense of decency: The utter professionalism and personality that inspired so much respect from your friends in music.
"The list goes on but the quality that stands out above all others is your enduring generosity. The one thing that we all treasure, the gift you gave us was your kindness.
"We all agree you were the kindest man we ever knew.
"Catch up later, mate."
Ronnie James Dio was one of the featured guests on Gillan's all-star retrospective disc, "Gillan's Inn", which came out in 2006. The CD saw Gillan revisiting a number of songs from throughout his career, which included his long tenure in DEEP PURPLE, his solo work, and a short-lived membership in BLACK SABBATH.

Surviving Heaven & Hell band members Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler and Vinny Appice will play a very special tribute to their fallen singer, Ronnie James Dio, at this year's High Voltage festival on July 24th at Victoria Park in London, England. The musicians will be joined by legendary former Deep Purple and Black Sabbath vocalist Glenn Hughes and Norwegian frontman Jorn Lande, who sings for the power group Masterplan and has just released his own tribute to Dio. Proceeds from this performance will go to the Ronnie James Dio "Stand Up And Shout" Cancer Fund. Speaking to U.K.'s Classic Rock magazine, Iommi said, "We thought it would be nice to do a final thing for Ronnie. To be honest, we didn't expect to be playing again. It's certainly going to be a strange feeling." He added, "This is going to be the only one. It would have been good, I suppose, for other people to have seen it, but this is something that we needed to do for ourselves as well."

Yo! I highly recommend getting the package, there's a LOT more writing/memories from his friends and colleagues and a lot more rare photos! But the package ends on the 31st of July, so hurry!

I thought this was interesting. Even after his death, Vivian Campbell really has nothing nice to say about Ronnie.
Quote :
Rush On Rock: If the chance to join LIZZY was a highlight of 2010 then was the passing of your former band mate Ronnie James Dio a low point?
Vivian: You know, I was numb to the whole thing. I hadn't talked to Ronnie in 25 years, so it wasn't as if we were close. My mother died nine or 10 days before him, so I was preoccupied with that. And my father died nine months before that. It was a really tough year on a personal level and I had enough to think about. The news about Ronnie James Dio just bounced off me. It was a difficult relationship on a personal level anyway. I was really proud of the music we made together but it was tough being in a band together. But he died way too young.
By most accounts, RJD was one the nicest guys on the planet, yet him and Vivian just didn't get along. I wonder what went down between them 2?

From Eddie Trunk's site:
Pat Padavona, the father of legendary heavy metal singer Ronnie James Dio, passed away peacefully on December 28th, 2010 at Cortland Care Center in Cortland, New York.
Padavona, 92, was laid to rest on January 11th at St. Mary's Cemetery in Cortland. He served his country during World War II. He enjoyed working with his hands, making many pieces of fine furniture and accent pieces.
Pat is survived by his daughter-in-law, Wendy Dio-Padavona, his brother Johnny, his grandson Danny and wife Terri Padavona, and his great-grandchildren Joey and Julia Padavona. Pat was pre-deceased by his wife Anna and his son Ronnie.
Ronnie James Dio died of stomach cancer on the morning of May 16th, 2010 at the age of 67.
He was renowned throughout the world as one of the greatest and most influential vocalists in heavy metal history.
The singer, who was recording and touring with a re-named version of Black Sabbath called Heaven & Hell prior to his illness, was diagnosed with stomach cancer in late 2009. He underwent chemotherapy and made what is now his final public appearance in April 2010 at the Revolver Golden Gods Awards in Los Angeles.

Viv Campbell short statement on Dio:
Def Leppard/Thin Lizzy guitarist Vivian Campbell has spoken publicly for the first time about the death of Ronnie James Dio.
The pair worked together on the first three Dio albums, before Irishman Campbell left to join Whitesnake in 1987. Their subsequent relationship was strained, to say the least.
But, talking to Rush On Rock, the Irishman had this to say about the passing of the iconic singer:
“I was numb to the whole thing. I hadn’t talked to Ronnie in 25 years, so it wasn’t as if we were close. My mother died nine or 10 days before him, so I was preoccupied with that. And my father died nine months before that. It was a really tough year on a personal level, and I had enough to think about.
“The news about Ronnie James Dio just bounced off me. It was a difficult relationship on a personal level anyway. I was really proud of the music we made together but it was tough being in a band together. But he died way too young.”
Campbell also revealed he prefers playing guitar in Thin Lizzy to his role in Def Leppard:
“It’s very exciting – it’s reconnected me to the electric guitar. I’ve been in Def Leppard for 20 years and if I’m honest it’s not a terribly challenging job for me as a guitar player. Phil Collen plays most of the widdly parts and I do what I do. But this job has reignited my love for guitar playing.”

They always did have a rocky relationship, but I'm glad Viv didn't let that hinder him from saying something in tribute to him.
