| QUEENSRYCHE- Hear In The Now Frontier
Is it Metal? No. Is it dark? No. Is it the band's best album? No.
But is it a bad album? Again, no.
The songwriting is strong, melodic & superbly crafted. The band took some chances on this record, including letting Chris DeGarmo take a turn at lead vocals. This album also has one of the band's best moments ("Spool") and arguably their best B-Side/Bonus Track ever ("Chasing Blue Sky"). Also, vocally, Geoff Tate is fantastic on this album. |

Not a bad album, just not very Kiss-like. It sounded more like Bon Jovi or any number of 80's hair bands. Still, I do like some of it. The title track is fun, and I agree that Reason to Live is a great song. _________________ ULTIMATUM - TOO METAL FOR WIKIPEDIA!

| Flotsam and Jetsam-When the Storm Comes Down Flat production, but good songs still. Not nearly as great as the first two, but not crap either. Onslaught-In Search of Sanity It may not be as brutal as the earlier stuff, but a soild record. Worth having for "Welcome to Dying" alone. | |

- DIO - Dream Evil
A return to form for Dio, in my opinion. "Dream Evil" is much darker and heavier than "Sacred Heart." The songs have better hooks as well. The guitar playing is outstanding and Ronnie is Ronnie! "Sunset Superman," "Night People" and "All the Fools Sailed Away" are all standout cuts on par with anything from "Holy Diver" or "Last in Line". I love dream Evil. This is the DIO album that I listen the most.

Hear in the Now Frontier was my first introduction to Queensrÿche. Needless to say, I took a big step back after listening to it. Took a few more years before I got enough courage to go out and try another album. Luckily it happened with Operation: Mindcrime. I picked it up cheap after endless recommendations, and ended up loving it. But yeah, that Hear in the Now Frontier is bad. Very bad. Or just something I really can't listen to.

Black Sabbath - Born Again Black Sabbath - Born Again is outstanding IMO. Yes, the mix is a little unbalanced, but the songs and Gillan's vocals are jaw dropping. This is some of the heaviest stuff Sabbath had ever recorded. Was fortunate enough to catch the band on this tour. Ian Gillan and Sabbath! What a teaming! Petra - Beyond Belief I really don't think too many people rag on this album. It's one of the band's most popular and was one of their biggest sellers. It had a ton of CCM hits, as well as a few crossover hits as well. A solid hard rock album. Leviticus - The Strongest Power It's not bad, but not my favorite either. It was a step up from I Shall Conquer. Traditional heavy metal with a sound similar to some of the NWOBHM bands. _________________ ULTIMATUM - TOO METAL FOR WIKIPEDIA!

| GUARDIAN - Bottle Rocket OK, first of all - BITE ME!!! THE LOT OF YOU!!!! It's NOT Melodic Rock/Hair Band/Blues Rock or whatever Fire & Love, Miracle Mile or even SSS & Buzz are, but what it IS is a strong Pop Rock record with fantastic songwriting and killer choruses. Some of Jamie's best vocal work as well...and Steve Taylor's lyrical input is priceless. |

Way different from their thrash output, but I've grown to love this album and accept it for what it is, a great eclectic hard rock album with lots of melodic lines to sing along to.

| Primus-Antipop Okay, it's a little ironic that an album titled "Antipop" is a blatant attempt at commercialism, but it's still an awesome album. Very heavy. I've heard people say that this was their attempt at jumping on the nu-metal bandwagon, but I only hear that in the abysmal 'Mama Didn't Raise No Fool'. Other than that awful song, I really like this album. It's still Primus.

I see a lot of fans hating this album. Most saying that Steve Vai ruined it, no blues, no feeling bla bla bla.... I think it`s a great album, lots of killer songs and great playing. In my top 5 Whitesnake albums. Definately in my top 5 'Snake albums as well. Good call, Olafsto.

| Trivium's "the crusade". I read so many negative reviews and accusations of metalcore sound. Last week, i finally decided to pick it up and was positively surprised. It's very good trash metal. But i'm not really interested in checking the band's remaining catalogue. | |

| The first Winger record was one of my first hard rock albums. I thought Reb Beach was amazing on guitar and it was really catchy. Of coarse between Beavis and Butthead and Metallica they were put down all the time. | |

| Scorpions - Humanity: Hour 1
people rip on this album for one reason & one reason only. Desmond Child. however listening to this album, one hears that Desmond is clearly familiar with the Scorps & their style. this album sounds similar to anything else they've released since Blackout. great power ballads, hard rockers, & of course, Klaus. he sounds as amazing as he did 40 years ago. so they wanted a new song writing perspective after 15 albums... big deal. it payed off well in my opinion. what a great album. _________________

The album is good...its just 1 - NOT remotely Metal and 2 - EXTREMELY different from all of their prior albums. But, as a stand-alone piece of Pop Rock music, it's very good. |
