These positive reviews have me rethinking getting this album. I pretty much gave up on Iced Earth after The Glorious Burden.
but they released some great albums since then. I actually became a fan thanks to the stu block era.

Stu sounds awesome on this one. Not that he hasn't before, but like I mentioned a few comments back, I thought some of his vocals sounded forced on the previous albums. There is none of that on this one.
And speaking of "The Veil," holy crap he sounds like Barlow on that one, huh?
Anyway, after two spins I'm really diggin' it. Easily their best with Stu. I do wish there were a few more faster, heavier songs, though.
I haven't been blown away by any of the tracks from this. As much as I want to like it, I'm just not into what I've heard.

Iced earth, at least to me, are not easily accessible. Their albums may require several listens before i actually start enjoying the tracks.

Maybe now a days, but they never used to be that way. They were one of my favorite bands, but the last couple albums have done nothing for me, no matter how much I've tried to like them. To me they started falling off right around the time they gave Tim Owens the boot and brought back Barlow.

A music video for Black Flag
A bit of Errol Flynn, but with super slo-mo and CGI. Schaffer looks like a credible pirate.

Schaffer probably believes he is a pirate.

I must listen to this album again. Thing is that i still have a lot of piled albums on the shelves that i recently acquired and still need to play.
The promo video release seems kind of late considering the album was released in the summer. Maybe it was the (cheap) blue screen special effects that delayed the release?
Hard to believe they'd shoot a video just now. I mean, it's not like it's going to create a surge in sales. People who like Iced Earth made the decision to buy it in June. People who don't like Iced Earth couldn't care less.
