Iced Earth was another band that fell off my radar. I really liked Something Wicked, then I was excited for Glorious Burden with Ripper on vocals. After that it seemed it was revolving door policy with the original singer back in and then out again. Like Annihalator I lost interest with all the singer changes.
This one is shaping up to be a pretty damn great album. Stu is finally sounding like he really fits in vocally. Not that he sounded bad before, but a lot of it sounded forced to me.

I ordered the album and in anticipation watched these videos again.

That's a good heavy song. I don't know why Jon dislikes guitar solos. Sometimes songs are just begging for one. This song seems like one.
The art in that video looks better than the album cover. I'm guessing it's from the featured booklet art.
Like what in the hell was I watching? There's an awesome solo very clearly right in there. I must have clicked away from the video after that slower part in the middle with the band logo graphic because maybe it seemed like the song ended.
I like what I'm hearing so far, anyway. And I'm glad because Iced Earth still is a top 5 band for me. Plagues of Babylon was good, but a little bland. But I'll take Iced Earth -bland over other music 99% of the time. Because it's still quality. But hold on for when the music really is awesome again like it was on Dystopia. Then it's album of the year stuff.
I might hold off. With so few songs and apparently no editions with bonus tracks, I'm tempted to believe a reissue will be coming in the not so distant future.
