Watched more of Saint Nick.
I'm enjoying this one more than the last couple times I watched it. It's really violent and gory. Or maybe it just seems that way after watching A Christmas Horror Story and Krampus. This thing has a mean streak a mile wide and loves to show it. Lots of good gore in it. And the acting and cinematography are really good (as long as you watch it in the original Dutch and not the lame English dubbed version).

I saw the English dubbed version of "Saint" on Netflix a couple of years ago. The English dialogue was hilarious, awkward and stilted. It was like someone ran the Dutch script thru Google Translate and then just read it off cue cards. Worst dubbing I'd heard since the glory days of the Italian splatter flicks of the 70's and 80s, haha!! Still a cool flick tho.

Sadly the English subtitles are pretty close to the bad English dubbing but at least you don't have to listen to the "dubbers" try to act.
I apparently just forgot how violent this is. It's almost on par with Dead Snow for a "winter gorefest". And all the images of the "zombie-like" title character on his horse are pretty creepy.

"Execution Squad" (1972)
An Italian police inspector tracks down a group of vigilantes who are cleaning up the crime-ridden streets of Rome at night. As the investigation goes on he begins to suspect that the killers are ex-cops, working under orders from corrupt city officials. This flick is apparently credited with kicking off the ultraviolent low budget "Eurocrime" movie craze of the early/mid '70s but I thought it was kinda dull, it didn't even start getting into gear till the halfway point. Some say that Italian movie vet Clint Eastwood borrowed the cops-gone-rogue plot from this for his second "Dirty Harry" film, "Magnum Force," which came out a year later. If that's the case, then Clint did it better. (shrugs)

"Ted 2" (2015)
The foul mouthed, pot smoking teddy bear and his dimbulb pal Johnny are back in this mostly unnecessary sequel. Ted's entire life - including his marriage to his girlfriend Tammy Lynn - is suddenly thrown into chaos, as the government declares that Ted is "property," not a person. He and John hire an inexperienced lawyer (Amanda Seyfried) and go to court to prove that Ted is more than just a stuffed toy. There are some good gags but overall this was a step down from the original.

I actually thought the original Ted wasn't all that great so I never bothered with the sequel. And from what you said there, I don't think I'll ever bother trying to catch it.

I liked the first Ted, but yeah, the sequel is pretty pointless. The original was just one of those fluke things that worked ... once ... but it seems nobody was really interested in "2," cuz it didn't do nearly as well.
Seth MacFarlane must've just got lucky with the first "Ted," honestly, cuz the sequel under-performed and then "A Million Ways To Die in the West" tanked big time. I think the universe is telling him he should stick to TV and quit trying to cross over into movies.

I liked the original Ted well enough but I did think the gag wore a little thin after 90 minutes so I'm not surprised the sequel died. I never saw Ted 2.

Finished "Saint Nick" today. I sure enjoyed this viewing a lot more than the first couple times for some reason. It's really gory as hell with lots of decapitations and avulsions and some genuinely creepy scenes and scares.
I'm trying to decide what to watch next. It's either going to be Rare Exports, Black Christmas (the remake) or Silent Night Deadly Night.
I'm leaning toward Black Christmas because of FF's comment about eye candy. I don't remember a lot of eye candy in this flick; some attractive girls but nothing I'd reference in a review. I think the thing I would highlight is Andrea Martin of Second City TV fame as the sorority housemother.

The Prowler (1981)
A WW II vet gets a Dear John letter while overseas. After the war, his ex and current boyfriend are murdered at a graduation dance, causing the girl's father to cancel any further dances. 35 years later, the old man's incapacitation from strokes enables the kids to have another dance. Naturally this doesn't sit too well with someone and the killings begin. This was a rather run of the mill slasher flick with a poor script but is ultimately watchable due to gore effects (including an exploding head via shotgun blast and a convincing looking throat slash) courtesy of the great Tom Savini.

Silent Night Deadly Night 5 - The Toymaker
I found a 3 disc set in the Toho Video Vault that I totally forgot I even had. It's SNDN 3, 4 and 5. Four and Five have absolutely no connection whatsoever with the original SNDN. I decided to start with 5 because: 1) It's produced and co-written by Brian Yuzna 2) The FX are by Screaming Mad George 3) It stars Mickey Rooney as "Joe Petto" (get it?) in the title role 4) It also has an appearance by the ever-creepy Clint Howard
It's basically a Christmas spinoff of Full Moon's Puppetmaster movies.

Tonight I watched the original Silent Night Deadly Night
The "Grandpa scene" still steals the show for me with this flick. Santa's murder spree is highlighted by Linnea Quigley showing off her "assets" as usual but other than a quick decapitation, the spree isn't really that gory. I think it's more the fact that it's "Santa" doing the killing that caused all the ruckus when this movie came out.
But the Grandpa scene is still legitimately creepy:

"Live Like a Cop, Die Like a Man" (1976)
Two young, studly Italian cops take on the Mob, backed by the top-secret "special force" - a squad of police with permission to be as brutal as they want, as long as they get their job done. Basically this sleazy, gory Italian crime thriller feels like an ultra-violent "Starsky and Hutch" episode. Directed by Eurotrash film legend Ruggero Deodato of "Cannibal Holocaust" fame.

I vaguely remember seeing "5" on cable many years ago. Kinda ironic that Mickey Rooney was in it cuz as I understand it, he was part of the protest group who spoke out against the original "SNDN" during its initial release and got it pulled from theaters. I guess a gig's a gig.
I've seen the original "SNDN" and "2" numerous times but I don't think I've ever seen 3 or 4.

Finished SNDN 5. It's pretty bad. The FX aren't very "special", it's pretty predictable and there's a major WTF moment at the end.
