While some of Dio's solo stuff is great, his best work was with Sabbath and Rainbow
Stargazer and Gates of Babylon are two of the best epics ever. Agreed!!! I'm also not a fan of Pantera or Dimebag and it has nothing to do with anything but I just don't and while I'm at it I have never been big on Cliff Burton either.

| I am a fan of Pantera, but rarely listen to them now adays. As far as their pop metal era, I had no idea about that aspect of their career for years, I assumed the Pantera that released those 80's albums was a different band | |

Do you like 80s Queensryche? Have you heard "Images and Words" and "Perfect Symmetry"?

Yes to all of the above questions. For whatever reason, I remain unmoved by both FW and DT. Yeah, I know, it makes no sense. (shrugs) _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"

| Phil was buddies with EXHORDER and a fan. He was obviously influenced by his friend Kyle Thomas, as any other musician would be. Not only in the vocal technique but also in the lyrical style.
But PANTERA deserve 100% of their success and are a quality metal band. One of the best of all-time. Certainly one of the most influential. They were mopping the floor up with the thrash scene in the 90s.

| Revisited COC's Deliverance yesterday. What a damn fine album that is. I vaguely remember it setting me on fire as a teen.
Old Fates Warning sucks.
Pantera's cool but I'm kind of worn out by angry music this year. Even thrash has been going in one ear and out the other.
My appreciation at the moment is for 60's and 70's sonics. They've had a calming and pleasant effect on me. Deliverance is an aggressive album but came close enough to that era's experience to be enjoyable.

I recently experienced that album for the first time. Not bad. Their later stuff catches my ear to a greater degree.

| No other vocalist makes me run to the stereo to turn it off faster than John Arch. Fingernails on chalkboard is preferable.

Stargazer and Gates of Babylon are two of the best epics ever. I honestly prefer Elf to Dio, in fact I love Elf (Rainbow was probably my favorite but all is RJD and all is amazing)

Narrow view of 90's thrash, ToB. Usually I am on your side of debates, but between CFH[1990] and TGSTK[1996] came out? Grinder, Destruction, Kreator, Alligator, Airdash, October 31, and about 1000 other THRASH bands were still kicking ass.

| My random metal thought. Anthrax plus Belladonna. Armored Saint plus John Bush. That is the natural order and the best of the best. | |
