What did you think of that? I've read some very mixed reviews about it. Not bad. Not great, but not bad. I actually liked the previous Spiderman movies more than this reboot but I've certainly seen worse. To put it simply, I liked it enough to see the third one when it comes out... on DVD.

I've yet to see either of these reboots. I really liked the Raimi films (although 3 was a bit shaky) so I had no real burning desire to see these. I suppose I'll check them out one of these days.

And is there any science fiction where the science isn't ludicrous? I think the issue with me is that I was 15 or 16, and my interest in space travel was at its peak. Good to great sci-fi actually puts effort into maintaining plausibility by being consistent with the laws of physics within a vacuum; BG was pretty much an expansion of the scene in Black Hole where the crew walk out of the spaceship into dead space for an extended amount of time with no protection, casually walking and climbing ladders etc. When it gets that preposterous (unless maybe it's a comic book), count me out.

I still LOVE that movie even though the impact of where it goes wears off after the initial viewing. But that first time seeing it I had no idea what was going to happen. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

An amazing movie; drags a bit in the midsection but the bookends are sheer fun, great examples of cinematic deconstruction theory. So many filmgoers hated it since they were expecting an average horror movie, which makes me chuckle inside. Oh the irony!

I'd love to have a sequel but given the ending I don't know how that would be possible. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

I'd love to have a sequel but given the ending I don't know how that would be possible. And the Firefly homage! There were talks of a sequel shortly after release but it all kind of petered out. You're right, there's nowhere else to go--except for maybe a prequel...

How the various "execution entities" were recruited and selected! My head is spinning with the possibilities of that! Each one has to prove they're "worthy" and then the Old Ones need to approve. Tonight I watched two episodes of Family Guy.

They show the Original TZ at 11pm on MeTV. I try to catch it as often as I can.

I'm making my way through my TZ Definitive Collection right now too. Last night it was one of my favorites: "It's A Good Life". "It's good that you did that Anthony, real good..." Billy Mumy's eyes in the opening when he's standing on that fence gate and goes from cute to really creepy is priceless. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| Cards vs Phils
WTH is wrong with Wainwright? He's sucked ever since the All Star break. We gave him 3-0 and 4-1 leads yet still lost 5-4. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| Pirates vs Brewers. The Pirates have been on a downswing lately with poor pitching and little offense. Nice to see them sticking it to the Brewers tonight. Hopefully they can hold them off. | |

| "World War Z" (2013) fast paced globe-trotting end of the world saga with Brad Pitt as a U.N. researcher hunting for the cure to a worldwide zombie outbreak. Better than I expected. _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"

I thought the same thing - better than I expected. Watched it on Blu Ray with my son (his first "zombie" flick) and he hated the ended - he was expecting the cure to save all the zombies...... He decided he's not a fan of Zombie flicks after that. - manny wrote:

| "Jedi Junkies" (2010) Enjoyable low budget doc about diehard "Star Wars" fans, profiling a variety of obsessed memorabilia collectors, cosplayers and fan film makers. As usual with this sort of thing, some bits will make you say "that's pretty cool," while others will make you say "thank God I don't live next door to that f*ckin' guy." _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"
