| Thor: The Dark World - I was never a huge fan of his growing up (out of the 1000s of comics I used to have I only owned a handful of those) but did enjoy the character in other books. I did like the first movie and had been wanting to see this sequel. It was also very good. Great cast and good story plus a mid credit scene that ties into the upcoming anticipated Guardians Of The Galaxy. | |

| "Ghostbusters II" (1989) The boys are back and this time they have to save the world from the spirit of a particularly vicious ancient warlord. Not as good as the first flick, but still entertaining (Bill Murray, as usual, steals the movie). This one is a sentimental fave for me because I happened to catch them shooting a scene in front of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC on a very chilly night in the fall of 1988. Great memories!! _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"

| "Fright Night" (1985) a high schooler suspects that his new next door neighbor is a vampire, and he enlists a has-been horror movie actor to help him destroy it. This fun, 80s horror comedy still holds up well after all these years. _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"

| I love that movie. That little kid who looks like Jack Nicholson (and later went on to do porn) is great in Fright Night _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| Night Of The Living Dead (1990) - color remake directed by Tom Savini; surprisingly light in the gore department considering Savini's involvement. Pretty much follows the original story with only a few differences.
Piranha (1978) - another late 70s Jaws rip off but this one is pretty good. This time the critters are a military weapons experiment accidentally released into a public river system. Gotta love the way they dispose of the creatures at the end.

What a terrific basketball game this has been. I've watched some real clunkers in the tournament so far (I'm looking at you SLU vs Louisville) so this crisp and well-played game was a breath of fresh air. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

What a difference! None of that "sped up" car action like I remember. Crisp and clear transfer too. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| Catching up on more TV shows:
The Good Wife - still the best dramatic series on network TV, even though few know it exists Resurrection - Not bad so far, not great either, will check out a few more episodes and see how it goes. Downton Abbey - working my way through season 3 Orphan Black - just started this BBC America show (filmed in Toronto), twisty and fun so far. |

It's not blowing me away, in fact there are some portions that seem somewhat forced, and Omar's character is pretty 1D for now (looking forward to some expansion), but the enigma is keeping me locked in. I'm gonna start the French series soon here.

I really wish they'd stop these crossover promotions with movies and such; they just totally ruin the atmosphere and remind everyone that what they're seeing is fake. It's like interrupting a movie halfway through with a disclaimer telling everyone not to try this at home. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

The french series is excellent, though keep in mind they aren't based on the same material, so even though each show starts out in a similar situation it diverts widely later on. |

I kind of dig that though. It's like having an alternate ending or something like that.

| "Zombie" (1979) Lucio Fulci's lavish "Dawn of the Dead" knockoff still provides loads of gooey, gory, sickening fun. When a New York journalist heads to the tropics to help a woman find her missing father, they find themselves trapped on an island full of hungry undead. Hilarity ensues, of course. Controversial and shocking in its day, the infamous eyeball-impaling scene is still tough to watch. _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"

| Walking Dead (GREAT episode) and Resurrection.
I found out that Resurrection and The Returned are different because the source material is different. Resurrection is based on a novel and The Returned, as stated here, is based on a French movie. So while the premise is similar they have no relation.
I also figured out my main problem with Resurrection. There's no atmosphere. It should be creepy as hell, but it's all handled with this pedestrian, melodramatic hand. Well written, yes, but just flat in direction. I hope it improves, I really do, because it is gripping regardless of this.

That's the only scene I remember from the whole movie but it sure is a classic scene. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.
