Day Of The Dead (1985) - third in George Romero's Living Dead series. This one has the dead running rampant throughout the world while a handful of military men and civilian scientists live underground looking for the cause/cure to the epidemic. Loud, vulgar, combative arguments abound before we get to any real zombie mayhem. I don't think this one was as well received as the earlier dead films but it's still enjoyable nonetheless. Greg Nicotero (producer and special effects supervisor for the Walking Dead) worked on and appeared in this film.
Slugs (1988) - another horror movie with nature gone wild and blowing up in mankind's face. This time it's slugs mutated by toxic waste that have acquired a taste for flesh. Poorly acted but some decent gore, including worms exploding from a guy's face.
The OTT bickering is what marred Day of the Dead, which worked well otherwise, especially in the mythology department. The gore was just...I don't know, it still turns my stomach to this day. I have yet to see a more realistically graphic movie nasty. Maybe Dead Alive. Savini really outdid himself on that one.
Slugs was one boring movie lol.
I love Day Of The Dead. "Choke on 'em!!!!" It's pretty gory but trust me Cpl. Hicks, I've seen much, much worse.
Loved that flick back in high school - a friend and I used to watch it all the time (with Dawn Of The Dead.) on beta (or was it VHS - lol!) Not even the goriest zombie flick anymore - Planet Terror has DOTD beat in the gore department.

Suggestions plz
I wouldn't say that it's the goriest movie out there, Tokyo Gore Police and a whole host of Asian cinema can take that award, but it's the realistic nature of the kills that get me. Like the guy getting his head ripped off, stretching his vocal chords. Gah. And the choke on em sequence with the pig intestines. All the guts and framing of shots and...I dunno, it just gets to me more than the goriest movies out there. Oh and let's not forget the burning of the severed arm. Not that we haven't seen it before, but that was my first exposure to such an idea...God I was in shambles.

Yep! Planet Terror is my current gore champion. I've seen many movies that are more disturbing ("A Serbian Film" for example) but for sheer gore, Planet Terror is the bloodiest thing I've seen.

Fun movie, but came across as more gooey and icky to me rather than the anatomically correct crime scenes we get with DOTD. Didn't move me that much. But it was still a blast.
I'm guessing everyone here has seen Peter Jackson's Dead Alive? That one seems to trump Planet Terror by at least an inch in the gore dept.

Dead Alive (aka Braindead) was my previous gore champion but for sheer volume of grue I think Planet Terror trumps it.
The Japanese flick "Naked Blood" is quite gory too but it's actually kinda silly (as are most Japanese gore films). Check out Tokyo Gore Police for a good example; it's like The Three Stooges with blood and guts; you can't possibly take it seriously and a lot of it doesn't make any sense.

I loved "Planet Terror"... mainly cuz Rose McGowan never looked hotter, even with only one leg. Haven't seen "Day of the Dead" or "Dead Alive" in years (and I wouldn't touch "Serbian Film" with a ten foot dildo), but "Dead Snow" was one of the goriest movies I've seen in a LONG time...

^^Saw Tokyo Gore Police, that one was just relentless in such an OTT manner that I couldn't take any of the effect seriously, but it was a hoot to watch. The female "chair" is one of the most bizarre moments in gonzo cinema lol.
Dead Snow was pretty gory too, Keith, and I think we have the actual snow to thank for that. Really brought out the color lol.

Slither (2006) - there was nothing really on last night that interested me,so I decided to watch this one again. It's a very enjoyable alien invasion film that's a mish mash of the Blob, Night Of The Living Dead,Night Of The Creeps, maybe even Invasion Of The Body Snatchers. A great cast with some funny moments, great effects and decent gore. This one doesn't get old.

And you'll never hear Air Supply in the same way again...

The Returned (Les Revenants) - Excellent French TV series about a town where previously dead residents start returning and how that impacts the lives of the people they left behind. Gripping from the very first episode and increases in intensity and complexity as it progresses. Recommended. It's available on Netflix streaming.

I think that the U.S. just started redoing this show with Omar Epps.

Yes, that series is called 'The Resurrected' but from everything I've read it is much different from the french series so I believe you could watch both.
There is also a Canadian film called "The Returned" which is based on the same source material but that one is a fairly straight-forward B zombie flick based on the previews.
In actuality the French series, the American series and the Canadian film were all inspired by a 2003 French film called 'They Came Back'.

Black Devil Doll from Hell, 1984.
Well. Birdemic was the worst movie ever made.
This trumps it. By miles.
Shot on VHS.
Six minute credits intro with an unmixed rock instrumental.
Inaudible dialogue due to lack of ADR.
A ten minute rape/sex scene...with a puppet.
So bad, in fact, that I felt nauseous through the whole thing. And not because of the bad taste involved. Just because it broke the barriers of bad. Hard to explain.
I've never regretted watching a bad movie. Until now.
