| The Fog (1980)
Still one of my favorites. Blu-ray looks amazing.
Next Of Kin
I love 80's action movies. No CG, and plenty of real stunts combined with a nice bit of cheesiness that could have only come from those times. Liam Neeson as a backwoods hick is something to behold. Of course he completely pulls it off too.
Making of Death Angel's The Dream Calls For Blood
The bonus dvd is actually a bit more involved than these things usually are. Runs over an hour and is pretty thorough. Some cool studio footage of the recording process.

| Never got around to watching Europa Report because the wife wanted to watch a movie. So we started off the holiday season with Bad Santa. Was worth it. Two thumbs up.
Going to try for Europa Report tonight.

| Today I watch the Rams throttle Indianapolis 38-8. Rookie Tavon Austin finally had his breakout game with 3 touchdowns; one a 98 yard punt return and the others on 57 and 81 yard receptions. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| Europa Report.
Of course with Gravity out and all this is going to seem like a contrived statement, but damn this is some convincing hard sci-fi. Stellar effects work, scientific accuracy (made in association with NASA!), authentic acting, and great balls of tension. Not without its flaws--the annoying EDM score should have been ditched, there are moments of sound in space (sigh), the creature design is derivative of The Matrix and should have been left out of sight, and I'm scratching my head as to why they didn't bring a rover along with them. One could say the characters are paper thin, but personally space horror just doesn't need strong characterizations as the real star is the galaxy itself and all the esoteric pieces that go along with it. A damn fine movie, highly recommended.
Shawn, I'm not sure which specific title you're thinking of, but I was reminded of several movies, from Mission to Mars to Moon to Apollo 13.

| The story is very reminiscent of 2010: The Year We Make Contact, even having the life form being discovered on Europa. |

Jesus; why didn't I think of that?? I recently finished reading 2061 too. Jupiter and its moons make for fascinating science fiction because of the plausibility involved.

We were wondering. Been awfully quite lately, not a B-movie in sight!

| 'Killing Kennedy', based on Bill O' Reily's ( I hope I spelled his name right) book. I have not read the book and I am not a fan of O' Reily's show, but I have read a lot of history and over the decades alot of books on JFK, it was surprisingly accurate. Rob Lowe does not match the real President's charisma but he did an excellent job but was overshadowed by the performance of whoever the actor was who played Lee Harvey Oswald. | |
