New A7X song "Hail to the King"

I've listened to most of the album so far. I like it. I still think their self-titled album is their best. This shift is style is not surprising nor bad (though I do prefer the crazy guitar work of a few years back). They've been slowly moving towards a more Metallica/GNR/hard rock sound for years. I actually think that's a risk on their part. They have a lot of teenage fans that might not appreciate a more complete "old school" sound.

Yea I can see the comments already.. A few even said "This is not A7X." My comment back was. "then who is it?"   

So far we have them copying Metallica, Dio, and now GNR and a little STP. Laaaaaaaaaame!

I'm not trying to fight man but if this is lame then all these new, old school thrash bands are lame. I don't even like Avenged but don't you think most music is derivative? Very few bands are actually original.

There is a fine line between derivative and rip-off and A7X has tripped over that line.

Very few if any are original these days. I don't think it's about being unoriginal. I think he feels they change their sound to go with whats trendy. A classic metal sound isn't trendy at all these days. I don't think their evolution as a band was trendy either. Bands should push themselves as musicians to make records they want to.

If they "ripped off" they would be sued.. Bcuz the songs flow is similar to a song doesn't make it ripped off. Sure it has a Sad But True vibe but it's not even close as far as how it's being played...

In the end.. WFC!!! It's a badass tune IMO and that's all that matters to my ears...

   im not buying it LOL!!!! I'll take a few songs off of it.. Maybe.. But to say it's ripped off, is going too far.. Get some sleep man, you;re grumpy  

You guys can slam away at each other over this release all you want but 8/27 is my birthday and my present to myself will be this album and I really don't give a damn what anyone thinks about that.  It's my birthday dammit; I'll do what I want.

It's a damn good listen  

I've liked what I've heard therefore I'm getting it!

I've listened to it a number of times. Final thoughts: good album, but I don't like it as much as I liked the last two albums. I don't mind the mainstreaming of their sound but I wish they threw in a few heavier & faster numbers.

I think Nightmare was one of their finest albums. This album stays mid tempo for the most part and doesn't have those usual A7X moments where you're like WHOA!!!

There are billboards, bus bench signs and even murals on the backs of buses for this album all over L.A., somebody is investing a LOT into promotion for this album.

These guys def get promoted like crazy.. I think it's why they have a HUGE fan base that swears by them and they are the "best band in the world" (sort of like the Tool fans) This IMO is why a lot of ppl dislike the band, cuz of their fans. Of course Im sure the music has a lot to do with it too, for some..

I used to be one of those that threw bands under the bus just because they got popular and/or heavily promoted. It is now a non-issue with me.

I can't get into these metalcore/deathcore bands, because if teenagers like 'em I automatically can't stand them! Does that sound prejudiced? Yeah I guess, but I'm almost always right! Teenagers are to 'angsty' to take seriously these days. Have you ever gone to Ask.fm and read a random teenagers posts? People are just getting stupider and stupider by the day. Vektor has to be hands down the best band to have debuted this half decade.

I've heard Hail to the King a few times now on satellite radio. It's an alright song. Don't mind hearing it but I can't say I'm going to run out and get the album based off of it.

Yes they do "sell out" every concert they play.  A7X def aren't sell outs.  They are musicians who are playing music for a living.  Just bcuz the singer doesn't scream anymore doesn't make them sellouts.  The music has been consistent since Waking the Fallen...

Do you consider All That Remains sell outs?  KSE?  Metallica?  Megadeth?  Judas Priest? Pantera? All bands who stylistically changed.
