Yep, that's it exactly. Too bad ZZ Top already used the name because this album should have been called RECYCLER.

It's no more or less original than Orchid and lots of other bands.
The reason I don't like it is because it sucks!
It really sucks!!

It's not about originality. Very little is original. This is about a band stealing from other bands. It's unforgivable.

I've not listened to the album, only the bits that have been posted on here but, they must have stolen this riff.
I mean, everyone steals this riff!!

Published on Loudwire recently:
Despite the success of their latest album, ‘Hail to the King,’ which arrived on Aug. 23, Avenged Sevenfoldhave had to deal with their fair share of detractors, including some trash talk from their peers in the metal world. Most notably, Machine Head’s Robb Flynn a very public dig at A7X, criticizing the band’s authenticity referring to their latest offering as a “covers album.” Members of the band, including M. Shadows and Zacky Vengeance, have responded to Flynn’s accusations in a polite manner for the most part. But in a new interview, M. Shadows had something specific to say about the cynics and haters. And while he doesn’t refer to Robb Flynn by name, it’s fairly obvious that the Machine Head frontman is at the center of Shadows’ new comments. In a conversation with Metal Hammer, Shadows opens up on the topic. “No other metal band is doing what we’re doing,” he said. “We’ve all heard people in bands who I won’t give any publicity to shouting their mouths off in recent months, but f— the haters.” He continued in a bit more detail, sharing, “People know that they’ll get more attention by talking sh– about us and if that’s the way they want to run their bands, that’s fine, but it’s not what we would do. We go out there and kill it every night and you can see what this means to people.” He’s not kidding. ‘Hail to the King’ sold 159,000 copies its first week, earning Avenged Sevenfold yet another No. 1 Billboard debut. Following in the footsteps of ‘Nightmare,’ it’s helped solidify Avenged Sevenfold’s position as one of the most successful rock and metal bands of the modern era. Check out the video below to watch A7X performing ‘Hail to the King’ at their recent club gig in Los Angeles (see our exclusive photos of that show here).

Are we sure they weren't just lip synching to a lost Metallica outtake from the Black Album?

I'm pretty sure Rob Flynn could take out Avenged Sevenfold.
I don't like Machine Head at all, but love Vio-Lence, and Flynn in general seems like a cool dude that loves metal. He also doesn't seem like the type to just talk about people for no reason. In my estimation, if a dude like that is talking badly about your band, you are probably doing something wrong.

Yea selling more albums than his band... It gets rly boring seeing the same thing said over and over again about certain bands. I personally could care less what these guys think of other ppl, I just want to hear their music...

As a fan, you should be pissed off about what Avenged Sevenfold are doing. Yeah, you care about the music. Well, so do I. And it's f*cking pathetic that a band like this can come along and straight up RIP OFF other songs (thus RIP OFF the fans), call it their own, say "no other metal band is doing what we’re doing" (because most bands don't steal), and then people like you come along and claim to only care about the music.
If you cared about the music, you wouldn't give a shit about these sellout turds and their trend-hopping cover songs.

I'm pretty sure if anything was ripped off lawsuits would be out JS!!!! But I get it Ken, you wanna sound like every other person online who has a fit bcuz other ppl like something you don't Now who is trend hopping?
The album isn't great but when someone feels the need to say the same thing over and over again and start tossing names out about the band, bcuz someone has a difference of opinion, i'll be right there to laugh at them, so thank you for the chuckle.
I mean scroll up, post after post is you making fun of something you claim to not like, yet you keep posting their music? I get it

Plagiarized patchwork of Metallica's sound, Overkill's mascot, and Lich King's artwork. Sounds like a "blast."

Is this like the new Nickelback? So popular it's become fashionable to hate them?
I am going to come in and defend this band I don't even know. I heard one song (and I may have seen them live, I've gone to too many concerts and festivals I have to check my old ticket stubs to be sure)
Copying Metallica's Black Album is bad? I agree it's not the best album to copy, it's a little lifeless and plodding, but it was pretty popular and it's not like there's too many bands out there sounding like it nowadays. Do they sound anything like Am I Blood? That band turned it into an art form, and I actually like their Truth Inside the Dying Sun album:
Anyway, what's this about being unique? Everything's been done before anyway. Metallica's Black Album wears out fast though. So is that the problem? No longevity? I don't think so. I think people are just jealous. People who don't even like the genre. "This band is too popular, I now must let everyone know I am an individual and I do not like them" /fat comic book guy voice. Let bands do what they want. If you like it, good for you. If you don't, well it's still fine.
I think I heard a song of theirs on the radio the other day (I forgot to take one of my CDs with me) and it didn't sound half bad. Certainly not something I would buy, but still better than the other 6 or 7 other songs I ended up hearing on that commercial radio station while driving to and back from work. And I think the same applies to Nickleback. I wouldn't buy their records, but if I had to, I'd rather listen to them than Miley Cyrus or Lady Gogo or One Dimension or what are the other acts out there now. Not that I have anything against those particular artists either
I don't even know Avenged Sevenfold. I always get them confused with Killswitch Engaged anyway, because they get mentioned together a lot. I remember I have seen one of the bands live, but I couldn't tell which. So it's kind of fused into one in my head. Killswitch Sevenfold.
There's also music fans who would love an album if it was only recorded by some other band. I sometimes fall into this category. "This album is okay, kind of 'meh', real big pop melodies, I can't really get into it"... but if that exact same album was recorded by one of my favourite bands, with those exact same catchy songs, I'd be all over it.
But there must be something about this band that can conjure up that kind of passion. Seven pages already. Really? THAT makes me curious. I usually like bands that the "cool music critics" hate with a passion. I need to check this band out.

Lari,
If you're looking for a place to start with Avenged Sevenfold I'd suggest the album "City Of Evil". Prior to that they did a lot of "screamo" vocals which I don't like but the lead singer blew out his vocal cords and actually had to start singing. After "City" they started going in a more "mainstream metal" direction, I don't have the ardent hate others here seem to have toward the latest output from the band but it's also nothing I feel compelled to buy either.

Turns out I have seen them. 2008, supporting Iron Maiden. I went through my ticket stubs. I can't remember a single song from their set. It didn't sound like anything I would like. Certainly not commercial Metallica-ish. More like, well, Killswitch Engage (They're the band with the crappy Dio cover, right? Now I can kind of tell the difference) A lot of yelling and the guitar sound was too thick, like a wall.
I remember seeing Steve Harris better than Avenged Sevenfold. I was hanging out near the side of the stadium, leaning back, having beer, waiting for Maiden, and suddenly Steve Harris pops out from a side staff door. He stays near the door, behind a bulkhead, to avoid people seeing him. I didn't go harrass him because 1) he clearly came out to watch the support band, not to interact with fans and 2) he probably would have just left at the sight of people coming towards him (I had like 4 people in my group).
I think I'll pass on buying an album, but I don't get the hate either. If I don't like something, I tend to just ignore and forget. There's too many bands I do like, to worry about the ones I don't.

Yeah, their older stuff contained a lot of yelling and screaming which I can't stand. But City Of Evil is different; it's more "progressive" in song-structure and has no yelling or screaming.
