I disagree with the whole "Slayer selling out" thing.
It's a filter on the board.
You obviously get annoyed very easily.

I just don't see the point of it. Censoring swear words I can understand, but band names? That just dosen't make any sense to me.

Try and put bolding text and italics text codes in the middle of the band name.
I don't like Korn either, but it's a rather stupid filter.

It's more of a joke from what I understand. Nobody has a problem with someone liking K0rn, however, very few members like them (or have liked them). Perhaps the joke has grown stale, but it wasn't anything serious.

Thrash with groove is simply part of an evolution, and is contextual with time. I do prefer my thrash razor sharp, on edge, fuckin fast, and full of staccato, but I don't mind what came later. Really, I think Slayer, Overkill, and Sepultura did it right.

I know it's more of a joke than anything else, but there's really not much of a point to it.

There's really not much of a point in us arguing about genres, but happens all the time around here.

I think the joke would work better with Limp Bizquik or Insane Clown Killer Posse Duo or whatever they're called. Not a fan of \"thebandthatshallneverbementionedagain\" here, but they're basically students of Sepultura, so it's not that bad.

They modernized their sound a bit more after Divine Intervention. They still sounded very much like Slayer & weren't radio friendly by any means. They certainly didn't experiment to the extent that bands like Testament, Forbidden, & the other 3 of the big 4 did. They were clearly influenced by the popular music around them though. Bands like Pantera & Slipknot.
You can really hear the Slipknot influence on this track...
Nothing wrong with that though. It's a good pit song.

I would simply organize a legal counter-protest with me and a quality stereo, blasting South of Heaven at their numbers.

Ignoring them is what Slayer is advising & really is the best advice. Acknowledging their existence is what keeps them doing this sort of thing.

Here is a good editorial from a true Christian perspective...
Subject: Re: Jeff Hanneman R.I.P. (1964-2013) Thu May 23, 2013 4:26 pm
Here is the meat and potatoes of what Bill mentions in his post before the link. (Taken from same link)
Quote :
Editorial Note: As Christians and as Christian metal fans, it needs to be said that the Westboro Baptist Church and the hatred they preach is not representative of what Christianity is about. We as Christians are called to go out in to the world and be good stewards and share God’s love and hope found in Christ Jesus . While it is true that God disdains sin, it must also be understood that God loves the sinner. So much so that He gave His only begotten son to make a way of Salvation from those sins.
The Westboro Baptist group is not only giving a bad name to Christians the world around, they are actually making a mockery out of the gospel and true faith in Jesus Christ.
It is my hope that in these moments, Hanneman’s friends and family will look to God for guidance and comfort. God’s not looking to picket the service; quite the opposite… He’s looking to be invited into the service and into their lives. Even in tragedy God’s peace can be found. A free gift found at the cross to all whom choose to receive it.
We express our condolences to Hanneman’s close friends and family and we pray that God can bring peace and comfort to the Slayer members and their families

Labeling groups as "hate groups" is just an excuse/precursor for people to start restricting their freedom of speech.
People should be allowed to say and protest whatever they like regardless of what people think about it.

Nobody said a goddamn thing about restricting anyone's right to say or protest what they want. Where in this thread do you see anyone advocating restricting their right to assembly or spew out whatever kind of bullshit they feel like vomiting out?

Glad that you agree with me.
I see that kind of stuff not in this thread, but every other place in public discourse where people start labeling group A as a "hate group" or group B. These are the same folks that want them banned from protesting or want to say who they can have as members in their group, etc.
So ... are black metal bands that sing about murdering Christians "hate groups" as well or is this just a PC designation? I just find that this sort of thing is selectively applied and a tool for persecution for only people of a certain ideological bent.

Good point on those black metal bands, I am not sure if I would label them hate music or group, because they are smashing on an ideology and dogma. But I have a hard time taking a lot of those bands seriously plus those musicians don't protest at soldier's funerals

Hate is hate, no matter how one chooses to express it. However, I do agree that everyone should be able to express it vocally, not violently. Picketing funerals is indeed cruel, but it's not a violent act. Physically attacking those picketing for expressing themselves (no matter how improper the forum) is violence. Black metal music bashing Christian belief is not a violent act. Musicians & fans acting out such by desecrating or destroying Christian property is violent.
People should be free to speak their mind, always. Violence should not be tolerated, ever.
