Various NCAA basketball games. Doing my scouting for March Madness; although I don't know why I bother, my brackets are always blown up after the second week of the tournament anyway.

"Monty Python's Life of Brian" (1979)
The Pythons' Biblical epic tells the tale of "Brian," who was born in a stable a few doors away from Jesus and whose life follows a similar path as he's mistaken for the Messiah.
"Holy Grail" is still the best MP film but "Brian" definitely has its share of silly moments.

I like LoB as much as Grail but for different reasons. I can relate to a lot of the poking fun at "religiosity" in the film. Like the classic "Blessed are the Cheesemakers" scene where the snooty Pharisaical know-it-all sniffs and says "It's not meant to be taken literally; it refers to the makers of all dairy products." Or the part where different people want to follow different artifacts from Brian. "Follow the shoe!!!" "NO! Follow the gourd!!" I grew up around a lot of people like that.

Last week when I had some flu based insomnia I tuned into Espn News and for some reason they were showing at very late night game of Long Beach State/UC - Santa Barbra. I know nothing of these teams except LBS has the most awesomely ridiculous court art I've ever seen. Anyway the game was pretty great, and despite not really feeling college basketball this season, it kinda put me into tourney mood.
Also watched Guitar Center Sessions with Jimmy Cliff. Love me some Jimmy Cliff.

I read alot about this show and would really love to check it out, it has political backdrop, that alone is enough to interest me, and I understand it is some of the best writing out there, as far as television goes.

First seasons of Boardwalk Empire & Californication. Two shows that have passed me by a bit but I'm enjoying both so far.
As for Python. Brian by a mile for me although all of it has classic moments.

"Ghost Town" (2008)
Bland comedy with Ricky Gervais as an anti-social New York dentist who suddenly gains the ability to see and talk to ghosts after a mishap during surgery. One particularly persistent ghost (Greg Kinnear) needs Gervais' help to tie up a few loose ends with his wife (Tea Leoni) before he can "move on."
This flick started off promising but quickly fell into dull, predictable rom-com formula, with laughs few and far between. Skip it.
That's a kind review. I really like Ricky Gervais but this is just terrible! As is 'The Invention of Lying' Gervais and Hollywood don't mix. Check out his most recent TV show 'Life's too Short' Now that IS funny.

I hated 'The Invention of Lying'. It was a great concept and had the potential to be good. Unfortunatly, it turned into a platform for Gervais' overbearing atheism. I had a similar reaction to the movie 'Paul', it was a big platform to mock Christians. I watch movies to be entertained, not preached at by somone with a vendetta against religion (Athiesm is not supposed to be a religion but so many Athiests treat it like one). When he's just being funny and not furthering his agenda, Ricky Gervais is a very entertaining guy (just like Seth McFarlane with his liberalism-when he keeps politics out of Family Guy, I can enjoy it).

Cat Wars: Lion vs. Cheeta:
Lions are so cruel. Killing Cheeta's for no reason, stealing their hard earned kills, killing lion cubs so the previous male's genes don't get passed along... Where are these anti-animal creulity organizations to fight this injustice?!

I don't think Paul was some kind of "pro-atheism" film, it was making fun of the overt fundamentalists which honestly...are good cannon fodder for comedy.
