According to blabbermouth.net, KISS bassist/vocalist Gene Simmons has told the Brazilian web site Comércio do Jahu that the band's new album will be completed in July for a September release.
According to Simmons, the band has already finished recording the vocals and guitar for four tracks, with the finished product expected to include between 12 and 15 songs. more Simmons describes the album's direction as the "classic KISS sound," not a million miles removed from the "Rock and Roll Over" LP but with amodern production. The group's first album since 1998's "Psycho Circus" is being produced by KISS guitarist/vocalist Paul Stanley and will contain "no rap or country," Simmons said.
According to Amazon.com, Universal will release a new KISS live album called "Authorized Bootleg - Nashville Municipal Auditorium 1998" on May 26th. No further details are currently available.

I'll be getting it release day nonetheless but if it does have a Rock And Roll Over (which is my fave Kiss), I'll be totally stoked. I wonder how many ghost musicians will be on this one.

I am guessing their will be no ghost musicians, since both Eric Singer and Tommy Thayer aren't as unreilable as Ace (who sometimes wouldn't show up for studio sessions) or Peter, who was told not to bother to show up.

I'd like to believe that, but I wouldn't put anything past those guys. "Oh, we can get a studio musician to do it for scale? Great. Tommy, can you come in next week and lay down a solo over it? Oh, you're wife's giving birth that day? Nevermind then. Paul, get Bob Kulick on the phone!"

Fairly Oddparents is a Nickelodeon cartoon about a 10-year-old, Timmy Turner, with fairy godparents who grant his every wish. Kiss are a band that like to rock & roll all nite. Yet these two seemingly disparate cultural forces are coming together this evening: Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley are making special appearances on the animated kids’ show in a special three-part Oddparents‘ movie called Wishology. It’s just another rung in the band’s famous merchandising ladder, which has them locking down fans from cradle to grave — quite literally, of course, in their patented Kiss Koffin. Wishology tells the tale of Timmy’s quest to save the universe once he becomes “the Chosen One” (evidently Neo wasn’t available). In search of a magic wand that can conquer “the Darkness,” Timmy journeys to the Middle-Aged Rock Festival in Las Vegas, where Kiss are rocking — wait a second, Gene Simmons, the guy who slept with 4,897 women might hold a magic wand … is this really a kids’ show? But good news! Evidently Simmons and Stanley actually are the keepers of the wand — the Galactic Guardians of the White Wand, to be exact. But Timmy’s fairy godparents have vanished, so he must try to save the universe with the help of his three nemeses. Of course, this is not the first time Kiss have gotten animated; in fact, Simmons is the cartoon star of My Dad the Rock Star, all four original members guested on a Christmas episode of Family Guy, and the band went digital for 1978’s Kiss Pinball, one of Rolling Stone’s 50 Best Rock & Roll Video Games of All Time. Check out a clip from Wishology’s “The Beginning” above, and “Bequeath” below. Part one airs tonight, Friday, May 1st at 8 pm, and parts two and three air Saturday and Sunday on Nickelodeon.

My son loves the "Fairly OddParents" -- so I am reasonably sure I'll catch this show sooner or later. (It airs after his bed time tonight, so we won't see it premiere, but Nickelodeon habitually re-runs the hell out of these "special event" shows all weekend long)
We were watching "SpongeBob" a while back and Gene Simmons and Shannon Tweed were the guest voices in it... Gene was some sort of deep sea monster and Shannon was a woman who picked a fight with Plankton. Haha.

There wasn't any to start with. I've been listening to them since 1976...and they've used every gimmick in the book to sell merchandise and increase their wealth.
A band that would hire "substitutes" for Ace Frehley and Peter Criss and dress them up in the old makeup...that's about as low as you can possibly sink.

Here is Gene Simmons brief comments on the upcoming KISS CD:
Uncle Gene is talking up the new Kiss album. Kiss bassist Gene Simmons has said that he thinks this is the best album the band have made since ‘Destroyer’. The untitled, Paul Stanley-produced album is the first to be released since 1998’s ‘Psycho Circus’ and is expected to be released in autumn of this year. Simmons said: “It’s the first studio album in 11 years and you can’t force those things – either it’s in your blood and it’s happening or not. I have to say…this might be the best new record we’ve done since ‘Destroyer’. In fact, it has a similar sound – ‘Rock and Roll Over’ meets ‘Love Gun’ kind of record.”

Sounds good to me. It almost feels like sixth grade all over again. Unfortunately, Ace and Peter aren't around anymore, but life goes on, and I was actually hoping they would do a new studio album with the current line-up. We'll see how it goes.

KISS bassist/vocalist Gene Simmons has confirmed that a deal is in the works with Wal-Mart that will result in an "entire section" of the giant retailer's stores across the country (apparently dubbed "Kiss Korner") being dedicated to KISS.
Check out the video clip below to hear Gene talking about KISS' arrangement with Wal-Mart while having a conversation with actress Denise Richards during a chance meeting at the Sirius Satellite Radio studios in New York City in early June. (Video shot and uploaded by Sirius' Jose Mangin.)
As previously reported, Simmons and fellow KISS co-founder Paul Stanley made a surprise stop at the at the 39th annual Wal-Mart shareholders meeting on June 5 in Fayetteville, Arkansas. Though they didn't perform, a camera crew from Simmons' A&E TV show "Gene Simmons Family Jewels" followed him around Bud Walton Arena.
There has been no official announcement of a KISS deal with Wal-Mart for the band's next CD, although artists such as THE EAGLES and AC/DC have both issued recent albums exclusively through the giant retailer. In addition, AEROSMITH guitarist Joe Perry may have inadvertently let it slip that the band's next studio album will come out exclusively through Wal-Mart. When asked in an interview with Entertainment Weekly about the album being delayed by Perry's and singer Steven Tyler's medical problems, Perry replied, "This is about the third time I've had to make excuses why the record isn't out. You line everything up just right: Brendan O'Brien producing, Wal-Mart and Sony screaming for the record, tour coming up, and there's no record. We're still in shock that it's not happening."
Whereas Best Buy's exclusive deal for GUNS N' ROSES' "Chinese Democracy" involved a marketing campaign centered solely on the album, Wal-Mart saw AC/DC's "Black Ice" as a way to sell more than music. The company hawked AC/DC T-shirts and an exclusive AC/DC version of MTV Networks' Rock Band videogame.
"As we looked at AC/DC's loyal fan base, that's when this idea came about: How do we pull in the music with other things?" Gary Severson, Wal-Mart's senior vice president for entertainment and electronics, told The Wall Street Journal in a December 2008 interview. "Some artists allow you that opportunity."
In a recent interview with Wags & Elliott of the Columbus, Ohio radio station QFM96, Gene Simmons stated about KISS' forthcoming CD, "[It's the] first studio album in 11 years. And you can't force those things — either it's in your blood and it's happening or... This is, I have to say... this might be the best new record we've done since 'Destroyer'. In fact, it has a similar sound — 'Rock And Roll Over'-meets-'Love Gun' kind of a record. That's coming out in September/October, and then we're gonna be doing a 60-city American tour."

I gotta admit, as much I despise the marketing aspect of KISS, having a whole section of Wal Mart devoted to them does sound pretty cool. I'm looking forward to the new album, too. It sounds like it's gonna rock.

The new Kiss album “rocks big time”, according to the band’s vocalist/guitarist Paul Stanley. We should damn well hope so.
Stanley recently issued the following statement to www.kissonline.com: “We’re about four days from finishing the new Kiss album. Eleven tracks, and it is everything I’ve told you. It is classic. It is all written within the band. And it rocks big time! “Tommy [Thayer, guitar] and Eric (Singer, drums] both handle lead vocals. The songs, sound and playing will knock your socks off. You will all be as proud and excited as we all are. Oh…and WAIT till you see the cover! We ARE just getting started!” Stanley’s hyperbole was matched by bassist/vocalist Gene Simmons’s comments earlier this month: “This might be the best new record we’ve done since [1976 album] Destroyer. In fact, it has a similar sound – Rock And Roll Over-meets-Love Gun kind of a record.” The new Kiss album is due for release in September/October.

SONIC BOOM details
KISS plays Cobo Arena one last time
I'm working on going to the Cobo show. Since it's such a special event, I'm sure it'll cost even more than they usually charge for their shows, so I may not be able to make it. Looks like a spot show that won't count as a part of their upcoming tour, so hopefully they'll hit up the Detroit area again when the tour starts, because I'm sure I'll at least be able to afford that.
Today is the first I've heard of the Cobo show... I could've been saving my money!!!
