Cringe-worthy lyrics

The entire Manowar discography.

Any time Judas Priest (or any band) make up words for the sake of making a line work. E.g., Rapid Fire: "Fast devastating and desolisating the curse" - What the hell does desolisating mean?!

Actually, that whole song makes me uncomfortable!

This one is particularly cringe worthy on the rerecorded tracks on Kiss Klassics included with Sonic Boom. Back in the day, when Gene was in his 20s, it was a little weird. Singing it in his 50s (and now 60s), downright creepy!

I read an AC/DC interview years ago where Brian Johnson told a story about his Mother not understanding the lyrics to that song. He overheard her on the phone with a relative saying "Oh, my Brian just loves animals. He just wrote a song about a dog," and he he didn't have the heart to tell her.

Unskinny Bop,,the whole song. After reading some of the awful sexual lyrics on this thread, lets hope the band members dont try to use them while picking up women!

Also the German Warrant's "Nuns Have No Fun" is the first song I think of when thinking of cringe worthy lyrics.

I have to admit I love how catchy it is though. Even if the lyrics suck major

I find the lyrics almost straight from the bible. I guess that may be cheesy to non-believers but it's not like the song is about killing dragons or orcs or sex with loose women.

That's usually how I feel when it comes to christian metal. Bible verses as lyrics just sound cheesy and forced to my ears. Being atheist, I prefer secular music most of the time, but exceptions can be made for great musicianship or songwriting.

Cheesy lyrics go both ways. Even when I was religious I had to stay away from a few bands simply because the lyrics were just too "sunday school". On the other side of the spectrum, most of the whole black metal "HAIL SATAN" thing annoys me too.

Deliverance had their moments of cheeziness at times, but at least they never sunk to the level of "Better than pot, JEEEEEESUS ROOOOOOOOCKS!"
