New video from Mongrel, one of my favorite local bands.
Also, not sure if many of you here will be interested in this band, but check out Fit For Rivals. They're an alt-rock band with a fantastic vocalist. Something about her voice, the grit, maybe, just does it for me. A luckily I dig this kind of music, too.

I'm off to bandcamp to buy some Mongrel. I like that sh*t.
Fit for Rivals sounded pretty good too. The singer has a definite Joan Jett vibe, both in sound & appearance.

I've seen these described as goth milf supergroup The Sirens. I'll always check out new Anneke stuff and all three have amazing voices, the song isn't great but the project has promise.

Basically what I expected. Not amazing, but sounds good to me.

I really like the track musically. It's close to the vibe of Aegis by Theatre of Tragedy, which is a favorite of mine.
I do have to ask what happened to Liv Kristine's voice though. She sounds very warbly in a way I don't remember her being. It's kind of a bad Tarja impression.
The voices blend very nicely, but Liv seems to be the weak link here unless I'm just getting a bad impression via Youtube compression.
I'd want to hear another track or two, but if it's all like this, I think I could be talked into picking this up.

Her voice sounds great on her latest solo album.

So is it just on this song that she's sounding kind of warbly or are my ears playing tricks on me?

Here are some recent additions to my collection that I really enjoy, and which you might dig.
This is a good one. The notable similarity is early Nightwish, when they incorporated more power metal; but Neopera is different in that they have three vocalists, one female and two male. The latter two alternate between melodic death metal-style vocals and a more classic opera-style, clean, baritone. Though at time the baritone doesn't quite do it for me, it's still a pretty kick-ass album.
Temperance is similar to Neopera, in that there are clean and growly male vocals and clean, strong female vocals. The musical styles incorporated here, however, cover more ground. It touches upon power metal, classic heavy metal, some thrashier stuff, even some alt-rock elements, and others. Really great album, this one.

So this album is badass! Not a style for everyone, but if you dig death/black/extreme metal, you might dig this.

I don't think any band plays a style for everyone, but yeah...White Empress kicks ass.
