That's a rather odd way of saying "Ooooh, that dang Church! I'll show THEM!" well, theres always the fact that sodomy has long been cemented as one of the most black metal acts, topics, and words ever to grace the scene. tnbm - true norwegian butt mashing.

| Upping this thread, Did anyone catch the Nu-Metal episode?
Loved it how Dunn expresses his distaste on this subgenre a couple of times, much like the Glam Metal episode
The series has been quite a snoozer since the THRASH segment, so looking forward for the Power and Progressive Rock episodes

| I caught the episode and it was puzzling that Pantera, of all bands, led off the episode. The episode also made me remember just how terrible nu-metal was. Ugh. It was quite amusing watching Fred Durst trying to explain what happened at Woodstock '99 though. Also, it was annoying to hear one of those record label guys trying to defend Nu-metal by slagging Glam by saying that Nu-metal had more integrity that Glam. Whatever, dumbass - apparently you've never heard "Nookie." | |

| I caught a little of it last night too. I'll eventually get around to watching the entire episode, (gotta watch the grunge one too) but I thought what I saw was interesting. I'm still not a fan, but it was interesting nonetheless.
Was it just me or did it seem like NOBODY likes Fred Durst and Limp Bizcut? Even their contemporaries were blaming him for the whole Woodstock debacle and everything "wrong" with nu-metal? I need to see the whole episode though. Maybe I'm off on that. _________________ I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was. Now what I'm with isn't it, and what's it seems weird and scary to me, and it'll happen to you, too.

You have to be to name your band after the Limp Biscuit (look it up on Urban Dictionary if you don't know what it is......) First time I heard the band and I wanted to smack him. What a douche! I didn't realize the Pantera connection until the nu metal bands started talking about it.

| I've watched the first 3 episodes, enjoyable enough, but really doesn't break any new ground or offer any new insights. It could have been MUCH better.

As much as I enjoy the series, I have to agree with this statement, who knows what the DVD's be like, but it seems it be rushed to tell a story of that particular episode, the nu metal was interesting to me because its not a genre I cared for, with the exception of few bands such as the Deftones and the band that everybody on this board hates, but me K orn. I do wonder if I was not on the wrong side of my 20's if I would have liked this music more when it was first released in the late 90's, I liked K orn but some of the folks who worked in my area who were 19-20 years old at the time K orn, Sh!t Bizkit, Coal Chamber came out, worshiped these bands.

You are not going to watch the next episode? !? Alice Cooper will be featured in next one about shock rock!

The problem with any show like this is that someone that already knows the genre won't get much out of it. It's like showing your documentary about the Civil War to college professors that specialize in Civil War history - about the best you can hope for is that they don't rip your head off for getting too much wrong. Compared to other "introduction to heavy metal" documentaries I've seen, though (e.g., Heavy: The Story of Metal), I think Metal Evolution is pretty good. It just needs to be broader. We shouldn't be getting a grunge episode while death and doom metal aren't being covered at all.

At least with this series, we're getting 45 minutes focusing on each genre, instead of trying (again) to cram all of Metal into 1 hour & 45 minutes.

Same with me. I remember clear back in 94 when \"thebandthatshallneverbementionedagain\" came out with their first record people I knew went crazy for it. It was one of those records I just never got the intense love for. At best I thought it was okay. And that is about where I've always stood with nu-metal. Some of it is okay. I also tend to see it as a gateway onto other forms of metal. As I think many of the younger dudes on here have mentioned they became metal fans via first becoming nu-metal fans. So in that sense I'm cool with the whole scene.

Well, P.O.D. wasn't mentioned either and their "Satellite" album sold 3x platinum in the U.S. alone with follow-up releases selling gold. I watched the episode. It was ok. I found the grunge one more enjoyable. I thought the little section on Slayer was interesting. I also found it interesting that 'the blame' for nu-metal was taken off of Anthrax and put on Pantera and Sepultura. _________________ ULTIMATUM - TOO METAL FOR WIKIPEDIA!

| I thought it was funny that all the Grungie dudes kept insisting that they weren't metal because they didn't look like Poison or Manowar. So I guess if you don't wear hairspray, spandex, or some other silly costume you aren't metal either. We are all false-metal posers! Save us Eddie Veder! YARLLLL! | |

| I've watched all the episodes that have come out so far. Unfortunately, I missed the NWOBHM episode. You can watch all the episodes streaming off VH1 website: http://www.vh1.com/shows/metal_evolution/series.jhtml If you look closely episode 104 is missing??? You can guess what episode 104 is... | |
