| Over the past few years I've been checking out very much newer bands, such as Edguy, Kamelot, Falconer, etc... And now when I take a look at my CD collection, I realize I have way too little Classic stuff. Sure, I already got CD's by a lot of older bands, but I figure it's time to check out the Metal past! So I wanna check out 1 CD of each of these bands... Def Leppard, Dokken, King Diamond, Savatage, Stryper, Twisted Sister & W.A.S.P. Yeah, I know It's like cursing in the church, but I don't own a single release by those mentioned, so I need recommendations on which CD I should bye by each of these bands. | |

| I was thinking about this the other day myself. There's tons of stuff I don't have in my collection that people would flip out about. I guess it just comes from being so familiar with the material already, I never really saw a reason to actually own it.
Def Leppard - Pyromania Savatage - Hall of the Mountain King Twisted Sister - Stay Hungry W.A.S.P. - W.A.S.P.

| Thanks guys for all the recommendations... unfortunately it seems that there aren't any like-minded Metal heads here. So, I think I'm going for those I first had in mind. Still, have to see how many different opinions on Savatage there is out there. | |

| Here are my opinions: Def Leppard-High n Dry- best songwriting from this band before they turned away from their roots Dokken-Tooth n Nail-great album, so George Lynch's best leads, but be forewarned production is slightly dated Twisted Sister-You Can't Stop Rock n Roll-Just a great rock album King Diamond-Abigail-Like a audio Stephen King novel in music form Savatage-Gutter Ballet-This albums shows you why Criss Olivia is so missed W.A.S.P.-The Crimson Idol-If The Who had become a metal band this is the concept album they will have created. Stryper-To Hell With the Devil- Not a major Stryper fan but IMO this album had their best songwriting, production, and was their commerical break thru to the mainstream. | |

That's where I started. I saw the video for the title cut on Headbanger's Ball back when Ricky Rachtman hosted it. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

Now at least I'm getting my hands on "Abigail", "Gutter Ballet" and "Soldiers Under Command" in the nearest future. I went to YouTube and saw "Gutter Ballet"... Holy cow! That song is killer! Very special form for Metal, I might say... Never heard anything like it.

| Listening to Gutter Ballet, it's not hard to see how Savatage morphed into TranSiberian Orchestra. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| Nice to see the votes for High n Dry starting to add up. For me that is easily the zenith of Def Leppard's musical output. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

So I guess then I should rather go with that one instead of Pyromania... If I like "High 'N Dry", THEN I'm getting "Pyromania"... I think the reason why I wanted to buy "Pyro" was that Kmorg said it had the best of Def Leppard's both worlds... But hey, most likely I'm gonna check out both so thanks again...
