Pfft...whatever. As I've aged I've grown to appreciate just how good a writer Cobain was...yeah, he was trying to be The Melvins and The Pixies, but he still wrote good songs...

ugh....agreed 1000 X! I grew up with my step-dad listening to that. Every few years I have to go into hiding because it's trendy to think the Beatles are so cool and you can't turn the TV or the radio on without hearing them.

Couple things - I don't like the Beatles, but that is me. No denying the impact they had on music. I am just not a fan.

Nirvana - good band, but highly overrated because Kurt Cobain blew his brains out. Foo Fighters are a much better band!!!! Kurt plays his guitar sloppy as hell! I remember watching the "classic albums" on Nevermind and the producer talking about how bad Kurt's timing was.

Also, shoot me if you want, but I am not a fan of Temple Of Blood's music. If you like it, more power to ya! Prefer Ultimatum or Hirax.

Of course there is Tourniquet..........

I don't get the appeal of that band. They have had some great musicians in the band, but the vocals are HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE, GOOFY and HORRIBLE!


Rolling Stones

Just because you've been around forever doesn't mean you are good. Just ask Robert Byrd!
The Rolling Stones have been an influence of so many other bands only because they set the bar so low that any average garage band could produce better tunes.
Mick Jagger's solo stuff is about all I can hack. Keith Richards just can't play. I do applaud their lasting power.

The guys were great lyricists. To be a good songwriter you have to be able to make the song memorable and tell some type of story. Its not about the words really its about how the words are sang with the music to make it great. Its called melody and they didnt have it IMO.
