The Official IRON MAIDEN thread!!!!!!!

I like it. But I'd like to see the official work.

The artwork, much like the last few Maiden albums, lacks BALLS.

Eddie's legs and dissappearing feet look awkward. Maybe just show him from the waist-up. This would also eliminate the lack of genitals issue.

That looks really cool. If the actual cover is as good as that, I'll be pleased.

Me too ! I never could understand complaints about how lame (or stupid,cheesy,etc.) a cover may be when it's the music that counts.

Me. I care.

Especially with a band like Iron Maiden that have made a point to put effort, reasoning and brilliant imagery behind their iconic covers. It's also part of the whole package when it comes to buying a cd (or vinyl album). I want the bands to put some effort into their band name, album cover, liner notes, band photos, even the picture that's printed on the actual cd. I show my appreciation of their effort by purchasing their music, seeing them live and getting the occasional t-shirt or other merchandise. Sure, ultimately it is about the music contained within, but saying "who cares about the cover?" is the logic of dowloaders (legal or otherwise). I just can't agree with that reasoning. Especially with a band with a track record of killer album covers, such as Maiden.

I want the whole package and when the band doesn't deliver on all counts, I'm disappointed. It probably won't make or break the band overall, especially if the music does deliver, but I'm disappointed nonetheless.

This is still a sweet cover. The last two and even BNW to an extent were lame. 'Virtual XI' too. This is computerized without looking overly computerized and the motif helps. The coloring is gorgeous and the nebula/cyberEddie is awesome. Dig the Event Horizon ship in the background too. I'm also liking that it's taking Eddie away from all the earthiness in a rare occurance. Can this artist make something like this for me if this doesn't end up being the cover? I'll totally take the ideas.

Almost everything he has on his blog is amazing (all the newer stuff). The other one he has with the red logo is cool too but I hope that one doesn't end up being it, that one looks way too much like something else they have that I can't put my finger on...a shirt or single or something...

I was wondering the same thing... though I get the vibe that this blog is just some samples of fan art (from a very talented fan).

Do we know if this guy is actually doing the artwork for Maiden or is he just a fan that puts this stuff together for sh!ts & giggles? It's pretty impressive, either way.

Those aren't real. Look closer and you can see it's computer generated images of what could be.

To answer everyone's question, it is all fan art. He was not hired by the band to an album cover - he's just very good at what he does! The guy is a member of the IMFC. The Christmas card on the page (with Eddie and Ed Force One) were the Iron Maiden Christmas Card last Christmas - so the guy is good. Maiden has a contest to let the fan club design the Christmas card and this guy won. It was favorite Christmas card to display last year

Melvin Grant did the album cover for the new album after the band rejected Rigg's ideas, which were probably better anyway! Heck, the band should hire this guy!!!

There's some news going around that Maiden's management is forcing people to remove their personal photos of the band from Photobucket... What's up with that.
