Ace Frehley - Anomaly

I like this album, but I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but KISS' new album kicks it's booty, IMO. That being said, I don't think Sonic Boom is as good as you are probably expecting. Anyhoo.....

I have created 2 charts to illustrate my opinions of the various songs on each album. Of course, I have not heard the Retail version of Sonic Boom, but have acquired it through devious means.

KISS - Sonic Boom

Definitely. Anomaly is a great disc, but Sonic Boom hits it out of the park. It's an all killer, no filler heavy rock monster if you ask me. It should be in stores tomorrow here. Can't wait!

I just got ANOMALY last night. I've only given it two spins thus far, but I'm diggin' it. Not as much as I dug SONIC BOOM, but it's simply nice to hear Ace rockin' again after all these years. "Foxy and Free" and "Outer Space" are my fave tracks at the moment. There are a couple of duds on here though... don't really care for "Genghis Khan" and "A Little Below the Angels" is just goofy... what is with that midsection with the children's choir? "Daddy, have you ever seen an angel?" Ugh. WTF, Ace??

Overall though I'm likin' it!

I've really grown to like the quirky "Pain in the Neck" quite a bit.

The first time I heard it, I cringed a little too, but that song and the whole album has really grown on me. I like it allot. I'm not sure which I like better, Ace's or Sonic Boom. Both have been getting regular spins from me since I bought 'em and both have catchy tunes that get stuck in my head well after the cd is over.

I just bought this yesterday I have not listened to it yet but the packaging is interesting.....

I didnt like it much the first time i played it after buying it, but then after a couple of days i played it again and it sounded a little better. I will play it soon again to check if i like it even more.

It ranks pretty high for me this year too.

Alot of strong tunes on it I bought it based on 2 songs i heard on tv when they were advertising it.... now my question is there any other Ace Solo albums that are just as good?

Yes. All Ace's solo CDs are good IMO. Essential is his 1978 solo album. It's fantastic.

Ace Frehley seems to have found an interesting way of using his famous Kiss make-up – by getting his band to wear it!
Check out this video, from California’s Nokia Theater last October.
Cunningly, the Space Ace isn’t in make-up at all. But the rest of the guys in the band most certainly are – and it’s unmistakable!
We can’t help but wonder what Tommy Thayer, currently sporting that trademark face-paint in Kiss, makes of it all.
More importantly, what’s Gene Simmons’ opinion? After all, The Demon once boasted to Classic Rock: “I stole Ace’s face.” (Meaning Kiss paid Frehley money in order to acquire the rights for the guitarist’s make-up style.)
