A bit harsh considering you haven't heard him play a note with Megadeth. I'm glad you weren't there when he hired Chris Poland. (Jazz!! Short hair!!! )
A little defensive eh? I've seen him play on YouTube and have a general idea of his style. Who cares about hair? That has nothing to do with my comment. Chris Poland kicks ass BTW!
No not defensive at all, i just think that you are judging him before hearing what he might be capable of doing and how he might fit his 'style' into the music that Dave wants to make on the next record. I'm pretty sure that he isn't just going to play Angra solos over Megadeth's music.

I don't know, I'm just saying... from what I've heard on YouTube, he sounds like a very mellow Satriani type player.

Good question. There is a ton of good players out there. The guy from Angelus Apatrida is a great drummer for example.

While I'm still a little disappointed that they haven't put together a real, solid band, I'm sure this Adler guy will sound good on the drums. While I'm no Lamb of God fan, I've heard enough to know the drummer's got some crazy skills. I don't think Dave would have asked him to play on the album if he wasn't going to put those talents to use.
The jury is still out on the Angra guy. His style doesn't seem to gel with Megadeth. Who knows? We'll just have to wait and see. Prove me wrong, Kiko.

Brazilian guitarist Kiko Loureiro (Angra) has officially joined Megadeth.
Band leader Dave Mustaine states: “I first met Kiko around 8 years ago for a cover shoot for Burrn! magazine. I had no idea who he was, other than the fact he was tremendously talented and that the staff from Burrn! held him in high regard. Since then I've come to see what a guitar virtuoso he is, and I'm deeply encouraged by his depth and talent. Very few Megadeth alumni have had the same feel and ability as Kiko. As Frank Sinatra says, "the best is yet to come!"
Megadeth recently released the following official statement confirming the rumours that the band have been working with Lamb Of God drummer Chris Adler, who will be guesting on their new studio album. Megadeth began recording their as yet untitled new album on March 17th in Nashville, TN. The band was left without a drummer and guitarist when Shawn Drover and Chris Broderick quit last year.
Dave Mustaine, the creative driving force behind original American metal and hard rock crossover giants Megadeth, and Chris Adler, drummer for the leaders of modern American heavy metal Lamb Of God, will join original bassist David Ellefson in the creation of Megadeth's anticipated forthcoming album. Adler will be appearing as a guest on the album and contributing his thundering, hard-hitting, and technically precise style and skill, adding new blood and drive into the mix while staying true to Megadeth's roots.
Dave Mustaine comments: "Chris is a tremendous talent, and an amazing person. He is going to bring a new level of excitement and energy to Megadeth that the fans are going to lose their minds over. I have nothing but respect for my previous drummers, but this is going to absolutely KILL! Back in 1989, Megadeth originally worked as a three piece — guitar, bass and drums — when we laid down the framework to our Grammy-nominated platinum album 'Rust In Peace'. I want to thank the other members of Lamb Of God for allowing this opportunity to take place for all of us in the metal community."
David Ellefson adds: "Chris has been an endearing friend to us in Megadeth for many years now, and he truly appreciates our music and its legacy. His drumming has forged such an innovative and ferocious path for metal music and I'm very proud that he is anchoring our rhythm section with us on this new album. I can clearly see a new dawn of 'utmost heaviness' unfolding in Megadeth's next chapter."
Chris Adler offers: "Megadeth was the game changer for me. Growing up, there was no other band that meant as much to my musical interest and direction. There is no doubt I would not be doing what I have been doing for the past three decades had I not stumbled across 'Killing Is My Business' and the bible of all metal, 'Peace Sells' in my formative years. About 10 years ago, Lamb Of God toured with Megadeth and I was able to share that story with Dave and David, and we have kept in touch ever since. When Dave called me a while ago and asked if I was interested in making a thrash metal album with him, I felt like I must've been on a hidden camera show. I was trying to play it cool, but I was speechless other than YES! Once I called my wife and my band guys to let everyone know, I had some time to really think about it and how I can best fit into this situation. I'm coming into this on fire. There is an incredible amount of respect, but the goal here is to make the very best thrash album we can — not just throw names in the CD booklet or be a yes man. Together, I believe we can do something very special! Get ready for a very exciting chapter in the Megadeth legacy."
Megadeth's follow-up to 2013's Super Collider is due out later this year via Mustaine's Tradecraft and Universal Music.
again, new album, will NOT look for any online reviews, like the majority (all useless) on Metal Archives, but instead will grab an an "illegal" download to determine if I should buy the CD,

This line is the Mustaine money shot:

You just know Dave drafted this up and was thinking, "Pff... Watch the internet try to figure out who I'm slagging off with this one for a few months."

My feelings are this, the announcement itself is met with disappointment. In some ways, I thought maybe we were building up to something more impressive from a name standpoint within the industry. Having said that, it doesn't mean the next album won't be awesome.

Sounds like he's in the mood to make a thrash record again. I hope it has more to it than Endgame (although that was miles better than the last two)

Well, ok. If Kiko's the guy, then Kiko's the guy. I'm sure he'll be just fine. Always look forward to new Megadeth.
So what happens to Angra now? Are they still together?

Notice that Kiko isn't saying what a big influence Megadeth was on his playing.
I believe Chris but Kiko? Not so sure.

Listening to various Angra tunes on YouTube gives me a strong Helloween-type vibe to their music, combined with Kikio's Satriani-like playing style.
Nothing wrong with either of those comparisons, but it really makes me wonder what he's going to bring to the table in Megadeth.

Just to derail this further, I'm going to go see Chris Poland and his fusion band OHM on Tuesday night. Can't wait!
Lucky! From what I've heard of OHM they are superb.
My brother-in-law is a fan. He's a bit older than me and didn't know that Chris Poland was in Megadeth until I told him. He saw them live and told me afterwards, "Yea, I think the guitarist was in a metal band back in the day."
I've heard some OHM and while I can appreciate the musicianship, it didn't do much for me.

Scroll down toward the end (or search for Damn the Machine) and read what Skipp says about the band. It's a pretty interesting and entertaining story. Basically, there was a second album, though musically so different it was released under the name Mumbo's Brain.

Not sure I'm really digging those MB songs. But DTM is timeless.
