| Other then AC/DC and Led Zeppelin ( both who had total artistic control ) did Atlantic Records score big with any metal/hard rock bands during the 80's and 90's? | |

- In hindsight, I'm postive that leaving Atlantic was the best decision they could have made. Atlantic had quite a track record of crappy promotion and band mishandling during the 90's, at least King's X was able to move on with their careers...many other Atlantic artists from that era weren't as lucky.
I wish they could have scored a contract with somebody other than Metalblade for that period, but it served it's purpose. The last two albums are some of the most solid of their entire career, so time and patience paid off for them. I am in complete agreement. The Inside OutSide Stuff is the best since the Megaforce days. Looking back on things Anthrax never really did anything after Megaforce either.

| I am not sure if Anthrax where victims of record label politics or if 'Stomp 442' 's commercial failure had more to do with bad timing. | |

| I agree that the last 2 KING'S X albums are among their best...better than anything from the Metal Blade years (although I like a lot of that too). |

Twisted Sister Ratt Skid Row Winger Dream Theater Kix Mr Big Savatage Testament Overkill Rush White Lion That is huge list, jokerman and you are correct all these acts had successful albums, I seem to only think of bands that they failed to break like Savatage and Raven when I think of Atlantic label.

Yes, they had a pretty impressive list of big hard rock/metal bands back in the day. I forgot Raven was on Atlantic too.

| While I actually hadnt listened to them in years, detuned just recently got me back into them and Ive listened to more or less every album over the course of the past few days, a truly BRILLANT band. Also, call me crazy, but I dig the Metalblade releases just as much as the earlier stuff. | |

You're crazy! Go listen to "Pray" and "Vegitable" There's no doubt they have good songs from every album but i feel that the first few (Sam Taylor) albums were the definitive ones. "Pray" is an Inside Out release... The Sam Taylor era indeed helped define the band, but IMO Dogman, ... Mr. Bulbous and Ogre Tones are just as definitive of the KING'S X sound as any of the Taylor-era stuff... |

| Deathcult and Shawn Of Fire = CORRECT!
I love the early albums, I really do....but during the Metalblade years they found a way to get rid of all the extraneous stuff and just focus on their "core sound". They learned how to focus their essence without tons of studio trickery. The Metalblade albums also gave them the ability to experiment with different sounds and styles.
Now with their 2 most recent albums, I hear a band that is 100% comfortable with themselves, they have found the perfect balance between their more ornate earlier albums, and the rawer/funkier later material. |

I've said it before and i'll say it again, Tape Head is the best thing they ever put out. Those early albums are great but the production lets em down a bit, a bit too much gunk and product in there. It was the late 80's after all, it's a similar opinion i have for Enuff Z'Nuff.

| I've been a fan of this band since their debut album came out back in the 80s and I was just a little kid! I prefer their first three, but all of their stuff is good. | |
