Don't talk that way about my woman boy!!!! :kickbutt: DB, it's time you found yourself a real girlfriend. You are at an age where it gets a bit weird to fantasize about girls on-screen. It's all an illusion. A bit creepy actually. I don't fantasize about her, I just find her remarkably beautiful. I don't have any illusions nor do I live in a fantasy world where she is with me. She is a Hollywood actress and I am a Texas blue collar worker and know that she was not meant for me. As far as having a girlfriend, I am working on it. I have put a file on eHarmony.com and will soon get a membership once I have a more stable work schedule (I currently work seven days a week). Back on topic, I enjoyed it the last time I heard it and will listen to it again soon. Only time will tell if I get bored with it (but chances are I won't).

| I bought it the day it came out, I like it so far. I played it 3-4 times but find myself walking away from it and not focusing on it from start to finish. I need a good road trip to be able to really give it the attention it deserves. I like all Priest though, even Demolition, Juggulator, Ram It Down, Turbo and Point Of Entry. I have to say that The albums Screaming for Vengence and earlier are their best. I am going to see them next month, should be a great night of music. | |

I hope you didn't take my comments to heart about the girlfriend and fantasy bit. That's why I had the smiley face at the end of my comments. A beautiful girl is a beautiful girl, and thank God for them. I still haven't mastered the dry humor of MC666, but I'm working on it. By the way, I recently met some folks from Dallas when I visited New York, and they were probably the nicest people I'd met in a long while. My first exposure to folks from Texas, and they were great.

My first exposure to folks from Texas, and they were great. I knew you were joking but there was some truth to it hence my reply. All my life I've admired women from afar and never had the courage to approach them (mainly due to not having any attractive female ever showing any interest in me) and I am tired of it. Crushes (especially ones that will never go anywhere) do nothing but cause pain. I believe God has someone for me out there and it's time I go looking for her (since she has yet to come to me) getting so close to 30, it's time I took a chance. Cheers! Sorry to hijack the post I will return the hostage now.

| I've listened to this twice all the way through and like I kinda expected, it's not making my 'nads bounce up & down like a yo-yo or my nips spin like propellers. High expectations, sure, but nonetheless, I gotta say I'm siding with the "boring" opinions. I've recently picked up a bunch of new music, so it might be awhile before I give this one some more airplay, but I will give it some more chances and see if I can get into it. | |

Blasphemer. Maybe that's because I liked Demolition. I still haven't bought the album yet. Here's hoping I find a job. I've had withdrawal symptoms from not buying CD's for a while.

| I got this today. I like it. But whatever steam gets built by one of the metal songs is quickly killed by an interlude. That's pretty frustrating. But "Alone" has the potential to become one of my favorite Priest songs of all time. |

| Got it used yesterday and am glad I didn't pay new price. Spec nails it when he says an interlude kills any momentum. |

| As I have stated before, I really like it, but I will not be listening to it too much due simply to the length and that it's 2 cd's and not a single disc. I have always been the type to listen to whole albums rather than a few hits. Not taking pot shots at anyone here or there, this is just the way I like to do things. This is why I never made mix tapes too much as a kid or purchase compilations (unless it's the only possible way to get a song I really have to have.) Also, I have a slight touch of OCD which forces me to listen to certain music on or at certain times. If it's a nice sunny day in June and I am in the car on the way to work and the sun roof is open, I like good time rock and roll (Aerosmith, Bulletboys, Tesla, Vanhalen, or Y&T) and when I come home from work and it's dark and the moon roof is open, I like something darker and more serious (Savatage, Priest, Maiden, Hammerfall). A bit weird, I know, but that's just the way I am. Peace. | |

| I have just been listening to CD one most often because of that same reason. I listen to the whole CD of whatever I listen to unless I just HAVE to skip some track that I find god awful .Most bands that I really like don't have that many tracks I can't at least tolerate . But sitting though two whole CDs .... both have to be appealing and not drag on like CD two of the new Priest tends to do with 3 really slow mellow songs in a row ..............Like I said before I like it but.... |

| So far I haven't listen to the first cd as much as the second. The second part sounds more of a priest album rather than a Gothic/Broadway album that the first part offer us. | |

| I finally have heard NOSTRADAMUS... and here's my rant about it that I posted earlier today at another forum. I'm thinking of expanding it some and turning it into a column for Detritus 'zine. This was just a "first spin impression" written on the fly after only one spin of the album.
JUDAS PRIEST - NOSTRADAMUS
So I finally got to hear what all the fuss is about. As you all know, NOSTRADAMUS is a double-CD concept album (a first for the Mighty Priest) and most of the reviews I've read have been either lukewarm or downright bad, so I was actually pretty scared to hit the "play" button for the first time on this behemoth. After nearly 90 minutes of music, I have to say... I'm not hatin' it, but I'm not sure if I'm lovin' it yet either. This is not an album that's an immediate "grabber," so it will definitely require more spins to fully digest.
I will say that NOSTRADAMUS is nowhere near as god-awful as I'd feared. I think the main reason people are flipping out about this album is because it doesn't really sound like "traditional" Judas Priest, or should I say, the Judas Priest that most people are USED to hearing. Their last CD (ANGEL OF RETRIBUTION, the first one with Halford back in the fold) was a nice "safe" Priest album, sounding pretty much like what everyone wanted to hear from the reunited band --a mesh of the vintage SCREAMING FOR VENGEANCE/DEFENDERS OF THE FAITH/PAINKILLER vibe. Call me crazy but NOSTRADAMUS sounds more like an updated version of the band's late 70s doom-and-gloom epics. In fact, if this album had been released in the 70s - say, between SAD WINGS OF DESTINY and SIN AFTER SIN -- it probably would've made more sense.
On the up side, Halford's voice sounds fantastic as usual (he's definitely channeling his inner Freddie Mercury on these theatrical styled tunes) and when Tipton and Downing are audible over the angelic backing choirs and classical interludes, they still shred as solidly as ever. When the band kicks into their trademark balls-to-the-wall sound (as on "Prophecy" on disc 1 and the title track on Disc 2) you kinda pump your fist and go "all right," but those moments, unfortunately, are fewer and farther between than I would like.
On the down side, this thing is simply TOO DAMNED LONG. There is no reason for it to be 2 CDs. Cut out some of the aforementioned interludes, chop down the run time on a few of the more "Epic" songs and it could've easily fit on one disc.
Overall, I'd have to listen to NOSTRADAMUS a few more times for it to really "gel" and to form a more solid opinion, but based on one spin I'd say that it slides somewhere into the middle of the Priest pack. No, it's not PAINKILLER or VENGEANCE, but thankfully it's not DEMOLITION either. In the end, I gotta give the Priest props for even giving a project of this magnitude a shot. They could've easily recorded another album that sounded like SCREAMING FOR THE DEFENDERS OF PAINKILLER PART THREE, collected their checks and made everyone happy, but instead they chose to spread their creative wings and do something totally off the wall and unexpected... which is pretty refreshing for a band that's approaching its 35th year as a recording artist. _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"
