| Star Trek: Into Darkness. Felt the same I did with the first movie: fun, but empty, which isn't the Star Trek I grew up with. Also, that score for both films is wretched, stock, and nondescript. Giacchino has got to go.
On a side note, Netflix streaming quality has been quite awful at our house lately. Most time it looks like a video from a 2006 phone camera. Not sure what gives, but it's rendering a lot of stuff here unwatchable.

| "Triangle" (2009) A twisty, turny little mindf*cker of a psycho-thriller that starts out like "Ghost Ship," but then turns on a dime into something akin to "Jacob's Ladder." A troubled young woman joins her friends for a day of sailing, but their boat capsizes. When the group is saved by a mysterious cruise ship that seems to have no one on board...well, let's just say things get weirder from there. This flick will keep you guessing. _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"

| MLB Network while I was housecleaning.
I really enjoy having this on in the background while doing housework. They have a main game on Sundays that's a feed from the local broadcast network doing the game but they also have "look-ins" where they go back to the studio and cut into other feeds live. I got to see the last 2 innings of Josh Beckett's no-hitter today thanks to MLB Network. Then they cut back to the game they were showing and I got to see a bench-clearing brawl between the Bosox and Rays. It's like the NFL's "Red Zone" for baseball. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| Triangle was great !
Last night, watched Cedar Rapids (with Ed Helms,John C.Reilly,Ann Heche...Sigourney Weaver has a small part), It's about an innocent-type small town guy insurance sales agent who has a big heart and hardly has been anywhere. It could have been funnier, but is ok to see once (I was bored, but it was interesting enough for me to watch all the way through to discover what happens).

| "The Marine" (2006) a recently discharged Marine (WWE dude John Cena) is vacationing with his hot wife when she is taken hostage by a gang of diamond thieves. This, naturally, proves to be a spectacularly dumb move, as Cena immediately goes all One Man Army to get her back. Big, loud, dumb, blow'em up action fun, a total guilty pleasure.

I don't watch wrestling so I only know him from this movie. He can't act worth a lick, of course, but in a flick like this he doesn't really have to. He spends the whole thing getting beat up, shot at and otherwise abused. _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"

| Hell Is for Heroes (1962) Steve McQueen.Bobby Darin.James Coburn.Harry Guardino.Bob Newhart Pretty cool black & white movie. Might have been the very first to negatively portray fighting in a war, compared to the other 99% of previous war flicks. | |

You know, I stopped liking Cena in WWE around 2003 or 2004, only after a couple years he was there, but I always like him in the movies. I don't know why everybody criticizes any of the movies with these guys, like Stone Cold, Mr. Kennedy, Randy Orton, Triple H, etc as I find them more entertaining then anything they have done on TV or pay per views for many years. (I didn't include "The Rock". Rocky always suck!)

(I didn't include "The Rock". Rocky always suck!) The one WWE movie I really like is See No Evil starring Kane as a psychopathic killer. It's a by-the-numbers slasher film but the death scenes are pretty gory. And Kane is basically playing his character in WWE x 10. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

I don't HATE Cena because lets face it the guy does a lot of good work outside the ring. His character however, does suck the big one. He hasn't evolved any in almost a decade, his moves are always the same, his promos are always the same, and he always beats the odds. If they'd actually let his character evolve some then he wouldn't be as off putting. Hell, even Hogan changed (at least for a while) back in his NWO days, but WWE is too afraid to let Cena ever go heel even though he's already booed more than most people (with the exception of Bootista). - manny wrote:

| Don Jon - Joseph Gordon Levitt has yet to let me down. Dude has to be one of the hardest working and versatile actors to emerge the past couple of decades. Here he writes, directs, and stars as the titular character, a macho chauvinist obsessed with porn. It's a good little character study with a decent message. I wouldn't call it great--there's no subtlety here and the message is basically thrown like a dart at the viewer--but what really made it interesting is the Boogie Nights-style relationship that Levitt's character develops with Moore. She's brilliant in this, by the way. Recommended.
Australia - actually didn't make it through 30m of this, we both hated it. Talk about your indifferent movies. This one tries to mix Gone With the Wind with The African Queen with, well...Moulin Rouge, without the music. It's because of that last one that what we saw of the movie was messy to say the least. Too much of Luhrmann's slapstick and Kidman's overacting (and those f*cking squeaking noises she makes) derails everything early on, and that's just the start. The magical realism was of zero benefit, Hugh Jackmanwas nondescript with his acting, and the editing was so rapid fire that I found it oddly difficult to register any one scene, like I was being thrown around. I thought the Outback had a beauty to be contemplated? Anyway, after reading reviews of this one, it looks like there's no chance of me ever finishing this near three hour debacle.
