There is no bad Yes. Big Generator just doesn't sound like classic 70's Yes, but then that is the nature of progressive rock...it progresses. It and 90125 were suppose to be CINEMA releases. The band had originally formed under that name with guitarist Tevor Rabin writing all the material, some of which was meant for his solo release. Once vocalist Jon Anderson joined the group and they were 4/5 Yes members I guess it just made sense to change the name to the already established YES! Whatever the case, it worked for them. _________________ ULTIMATUM - TOO METAL FOR WIKIPEDIA!

The name of the band was still Cinema when Rabin & Anderson first got involved, it became "Yes" when Chris Squire joined because he owns the sole rights to the name "Yes". That is why the album Anderson, Bruford, Wakeman & Howe couldn't use the name because Squire wasn't involved. |

I have always liked Alice Cooper- DA DA as well. Its different but very funny. I would also throw in Alice Cooper - Dirty Diamonds. It does not get much love but I really enjoy it. _________________

| Drama is another excellent Yes album that has a much worse reputation than it deserves. This is partially due to Jon Anderson not being involved, but regardless of that it's a very strong album and "Machine Messiah" and "Tempus Fugit" are two of the best Yes songs of the 1980s.

Those songs rock, that album is killer, and I love Alan White's drumming on it! White did an in store signing at Northridge Music (During The Ladder tour, I believe) and told him those same things. I had come straight from work and didn't have a copy of Drama for him to sign... got a signed poster, though. To me, its one of those albums you can listen to from start to finish... and it's one of my "drumming along to" albums.

| Guess I should throw Winger's debut in here. One of the most hated albums of its era, yet it has been my best friend since the onset of adolescence. At least one of my best friends. | |

Agreed, don't really understand all the hate they got. For Running Wild, some disliked albums I enjoy are Masquerade, The Brotherhood, Victory and Rogues En Vogue.

IMO, Winger is one of the most underrated bands from that era.

Why do I keep hearing that Frolic in the Park was an unpopular album? I thought it was even better than Ultra-Violence. Has my opinion been in the minority all these years? Thrash purists have problems with anything different. It was sort of a letdown from the Ultraviolence, but ACTIII was even wimpier. They started changing before the grunge era, if they had just waited...

Wait, what? Are we going by what real metal fans like, or just the shitty reviews from Encyclopedia Metallum? Most people seem to not like Set The World On Fire much compared to the rest of Annihilator's catalog, and a lot of fans find Obsessed By Cruelty to be Sodom's weakest effort(mainly due to the poor production). They are not real SODOM fans. Only Annihilator I really loved were the demos and the first LP Alison Hell, so can not comment as a diehard fan or collector (I've heard the rest of the discography and it is ok.)

Yes, sometimes it's good, but original fans wonder what happened to to the sound they were brought to? eg. first 2 LP's compared to later ones by - Bathory, Fates Warning, Metallica, Megadeth, Anthrax, Exciter

| NO. We are on opposite sides of the fence here. I dig some prog , and jazz, but not when it wrecks metal I like.
DEATH totally wimped out and went proggy after Spiritual Healing. Should have changed the name. I was a DEATH fan before the first album was out and didn't like how Chuck thought he had to prove himself as a superior musician with that stuff & Control Denied.

How the hell is an album like Sound of Perserverance "proggy" in any way? Also what's so bad about an album being "progressive" anyways? I don't see why that's such a dirty word(that actually sounds like something I would read on Metal Archives). Chuck wasn't trying to "prove himself" he was simply evolving and I don't see why people couldn't accept that.
