I can understand the Stones being boring to some, but...Tom Petty? First time I played Damn the Torpedos I was trashing my room and dancing like crazy, every track is simply wonderful. Least boring music I've ever heard.

Disliking them branches the deductive argument, since the premise is singular without support of a syntax. Possibly Van Halen and classic rock. And every jazz song I've heard up to this point. Also can't stand when rhythm (drums) goes all improvisation and stuff - it annoys me to no end, as I'm perfectly fine with my original, strict version of a song, without any changes - and music dominating mood of which is something happy, party-time-like.

Interesting that most people have listed at least one band that I like.  

I can't think of any bands I'd go so far as to say that I hate. About the closest I can come is any death/black metal bands, but that's because I don't like harsh vocals although I don't know if I'd go so far as to say that I hate them.

If a band doesn't interest me I just ignore them.

My "I really dislike these bands" List - meaning I am not just indifferent, I really dislike these bands to the point I get a little irritated when/if I hear them. To my ears, it's just such utter shite.

1. Limp Bizkit
2. ICP
3. Marylin Manson
4. Puffy/Puff Daddy/P. Diddy
5. Beyonce
6. Sublime

Can't really think of any more.

I don't "listen" to the bands I listed either...because I really dislike them...but sometimes music just happens and you hear stuff you "hate" whether you want to or not...even if only long enough to choke back a heave and change the channel.

Yeah I'm all past that. A long time ago I wasted a lot of energy on my hatred for classic rock (probably more radio's fault than anything, playing that stuff ad nauseum) but nowadays I just ignore all of it, not listening to radio at all.

Portrait of an American Family is a top 25 album of all time for me and I CANT STAND MM....

Im a huge SUBLIME fan as well. My son Bradley is named after Bradley Nowell (His Mothers idea)

ICP used be awesome. Their popularity eventually ruined them, but up until about 2000 they were excellent. Hilarious, too. If you didn't take them too seriously and ignored their retarded fans, of course.

They're pretty terrible now, though, aside from a song or two here and there.

there really isn't alot of music I don't like, with the exception of hip-hop and gangsta crap and generic modern pop. i love the spirit of music at it's core, so it's hard for me to hate most any kind, but a small minority just gets on my nerves like nothing else.

The main cause of this is probably being chronically exposed to someone else's choice of music; usually radio stations played mindlessly at work. Luckily I haven't been exposed to that since the 70's. Occasionally I get a CD now that I listen to once and say "ouch" and put it aside, but it doesn't get to the hate stage. Interestingly in about 1/10 cases of that I end up liking it later. Early Roxy Music is a case in point. It started out in the "sell" pile, and now I just love it.
There are times where I'll be in a grocery store that plays classic rock, and I'll hear a song that I didn't like from the 70's. It's a great feeling to know that in 5 minutes I'll be back in my car rocking and maybe will never hear the song again. Residual hates from the 70's would be Billy Joel, Springsteen, and those ballads we all hated (Michael M. Murphy, Harry Chapin, Henry Gross, Starland Vocal Band, etc.) But just hearing half the song in a store doesn't bother me, it's like smelling a fart, I just get out of there fast!
p.s.-I found out later that Henry Gross of "Shannon" fame actually made some very tasty fairly hard rockin' albums early on. I listen to them fairly often. You never know!
