I don't like that song, either. It sounds so over-done. There was a "worst songs" thread on another forum, and someone else chose "Born To Run." I was glad to see that and thought there were probably others out there with the same opinion making up a larger group of "Born To Run" dislikers than I thought.

I have the same attitude about Led Zeppelin. I just never got into them for some reason. I never had any of their albums, though. I think I had "2" on cassette from somewhere, but used it as a blank for a mix tape. I don't find them interesting enough to check out their catalog, I guess.

I never thought i'd see all this hate for some bands that I love. U2, Zeppelin, Springsteen, GnR. I guess I just don't want to understand it.

I feel you. It's been a shocking ride reading these comments. Alas, I'm the one who started it all...

I don't really get offended by anything here. I find the notion that anyone who loves rock music could possibly hate The Rolling Stones or Led Zep a little bemusing, but it's been an interesting thread.

I don't think it's offense, but...confusion?

Considering I was one of the peeps who mentioned Zep. I like maybe 3 songs Stairway, Hammer of the Gods and Kashmir outside of that they just do nothing for me. I dont hate them per say they are just not my cup of tea

I am with you on this one, I don't get it either, I for the most part skimmed thru this thread and have just shaken my head in bewilderment

I don't know, I kind of like that there are those who don't like these bands and admit it. I'm a big fan of these groups (U2 not as much but don't dislike them) but good for those who don't. Keeps things varied and interesting.

Interesting how some feel it makes a statement about themselves by stating what they don't like, as opposed to what they do. Some, not all.

Speaking about bands we love gets a little boring. Sometimes things need to shaken up and it makes it interesting. Good thing is there isn't any bashing of bands in here. God forbid I dislike something someone loves..   That usually turns into "Im a loser" "f*g" "POS" etc etc...

I don't HATE Zeppelin, but I am not a fan - I could never get into them. I get what they did, but their music doesn't connect with me

It would make more sense to just be passive about these bands for some unknown preference, but to hate them just seems redundant.

There's nothing in me that connects with 90% of the discography of each of the bands people are confused over, and further, some of that content is offensive to me on an emotional or philosophical level.

I definitely don't remember signing any kind of social contract over rock music, so for me it seems more unbalanced that there's a whole lot of shock that a minority of people dislike something, but any shock over a majority disliking what a minority may be into would not be taken too seriously.  

If a person goes to a bar, hears something on YouTube, or any medium that exposes them to any song, and a song ends up being their favorite song, it's really not up to the "rock community" to tell them whether it's correct or how or why not. That's what's wrong with 'communities' and, on a macro level, society as a whole - even mere verbal discard of sacrosanct individuality is a step backward from the future. The song or songs may be things one person has heard of, ten people, or hundreds of people, but the record doesn't come with an instruction sheet telling you how to listen. The WWW has helped show multitudes of people the expanse of the music world and break them free of anti-progressive expectations and attitudes regarding art....which are usually things that big corporations have a sizable hand in from the beginning..

Perhaps I should've been more concrete with the word 'hate' in the first place. I mean, I agree with you; none of these bands should be universally enjoyed. Dylan is boring to some because he's far more lyrical and poetic than musical as most folk is. Springsteen's voice is sloppy. The Stones are a loose rock group. All this makes sense. But to hate these bands where one actually feels anger like I do with my list whenever they're heard is a different arena. My bands/artists that I hate have--completely IMO of course--made a negative contribution to society and musical culture in general. And I hate them for that.

I don't know if I mentioned them but Tool, is another band that I don't get into and I love Prog Rock. Seeing them all over BEST METAL band polls makes me giggle too.. I don't consider them METAL at all...

Not by me; I've heard all those albums because my dad was a fan (just like with Creed). So I know they're repetitive.

I "guess" us older listeners had time to appreciate an entire album and really get into what a band was doing or tryng to do on each release. We didn't have a 24 hour cable TV music channel or the internet to saturate our music listening sensabilities with an overdose of choices. If anyone is being honest here, myself included. Do you really give something a deep listen nowadays, when you know there is easy access to something just as good or better, merely a click of a mouse away ? I am grateful that my parents exposed me to the music of thier day, The Big Band sound of the late 30's/early 40's, then my siblings with doo wop, Motown, and the Haight/Asbury sound, as well as all the albums that got kicked down to me by them (siblings), their friends, and others around the neighborhood. When you never knew how long it was getting loaned, or if it was yours to keep forever, the way it got listened to made an appreciation of the music quite relevant. It wasn't like it is today, a thing for mass consumption.

Yes, I for one do, and if someone were to ask me in person, knowing who I am, I would legitimately think that they were insane.

That's a good observation, I think most of us have probably been making our lists with "this is so irritating to my nerves" kind of stuff.   A few of them would definitely translate to hate for me, but for the most part that extreme usage of the word is reserved for..... well.... mostly within the modern hip hop and R&B world...
