Seen this one probably 5 times now, it continues to impress across multiple viewings. An "art-house horror film" that works beautifully.

Better than average sequel is more straight-ahead horror and less artsy, but still worthwhile.
I can't say I share the same sentiment regarding the first film. It has a lot of problems going for it that if one were to strip away Boyle's stylings, it would be another average zombie film. There are moments of near-greatness, but for the most part it's just problematic.
However, you're dead on about the sequel. I was not expecting it to be so intense. Still has its own share of problems, but a zippy fierce watch.

I found the sequel to be much better than the original.

Today I watched the Rams take advantage of Houston's self-inflicted wounds to roll to an unexpected 38-13 beatdown. It was nice to be the "beater" instead of the "beaten" for a change.

Steelers beat the Jets 19-6 for their first win. Nice !
And both 28 Days/Weeks are great films. But to go off on a little annoyance of mine...they are not zombie films !

So far this has been a great sports weekend for me.
The Cardinals have taken the first 2 games of the NLCS beating the Dodgers top two pitchers, the Rams unexpectedly trounced Houston and now I'm watching the New Orleans/New England game. C'mon Saints, make my weekend complete and beat NE!

Easily my most-hated team in any sport. And I agree, it's really nauseating how much ESPN kowtows to Brady and the Patriots.

Season premiere of "The Walking Dead" - looks like we're off to a good start.
Wondering if the the crashed-helicopter-falling-thru-the-ceiling scene was an intentional nod to Argento/Bava's "Demons" (1985) or if it was just coincidence...

The Walking Dead season premiere. Are we starting to get an airborne virus or something now ? What exactly made that kid at the end sick and turn ? Pretty cool beginning.

My Schlock-Tober hasn't been very schlocky thus far so I'm gonna try to make up for it from here on out. Tonight's feature presentation:
The Fear: Halloween Night (aka The Fear: Resurrection, 1999)
(For some reason, the only trailer I could find for this flick on YouTube is in German. No biggie. It probably makes about as much sense in German as it did in English, which is to say... not much at all. )
In this who-asked-for-it sequel to a forgettable mid 90s direct-to-video fright flick, a gang of twenty somethings head to a country estate for a Halloween party topped off by a special Native American conquer-your-fears ceremony. Naturally things go horribly wrong, and they end up getting stalked & picked off one by one by a walking wooden dummy named 'Morty.' Yeah, I know. If I were going to try and create a new horror icon I wouldn't name it 'Morty' either.
This is a weird combination of psychological horror and slasher flick that doesn't make much sense but at least it wasn't boring. Horror nerds will be pleased to see Betsy 'Mrs. Voorhees' Palmer in a prominent role.

I know how you can make it a LOT more schlocky. Evil Bong 2 or Gingerdead Man.
Wait, that would be Craptober. Here's a can't-miss schlocker Halloween III: Season Of The Witch. Or here's another one The Stuff

Or some more recent films like "Splinter" or "Slither".
Ever seen "Society" or "From Beyond"?

Yeah Slither is a real "throwback" movie. I love it! I've never heard Air Supply sound better.
I also just recently acquired "Night Of The Creeps" on Blu-ray. That's a classic 80s schlock movie.
