Documentary on one of my absolute favorite bands. The album Inhaler needs to be in every hard music fan's collection.
The whole thing is on youtube. Thank you MVDmusicvideo.
Highly recommended even for non-fans. The story of their first record's title and Tad's mother's reaction to it is awesome. Plus there is plenty of Jack Endino who is not only one of my favorite producers but also a great talking head for these types of things.
All these Norwegian horror films feature a lot of panoramic scenes of the country and it is just freakin' beautiful!
Trollhunter is the one that got me looking up photos on the internet, and I had no idea the place was more scenic than Ireland. Then I looked at their economics and politics and music and religious views and...well let's just say it's my type of place.

I'll still take Ireland. I've loved Irish music since I was a kid. And then there's the beer and the pubs...
But from strictly a scenic perspective I have to agree that Norway wins; just beautiful scenery.

I think that it's a real tragedy that there is a series 9 of the U.S version of the Office. I like the U.S version okay, but the U.K version was just fine and went on for the perfect amount of time to be a classic comedy.
After I initially got into the Office (U.S.), I tried watching the U.K. version, but I couldn't get through one episode. I usually love British humor, stuff like Monty Python, Coupling, and Peep Show, but The UK Office was so dry and skin-moisteningly (how's that for a new adjective? ) awkward that I couldn't handle it.

Finland is my Norway, although Iceland has Bjork! I'm not exaggerating in the slightest when I say that I have seriously considered both.
The U.K is about done!

It's the skin moisteningly awkward stuff that's the real gold about that show. It is hard going but hiding behind a cushion because you are soo embarrassed for the character is a big part of the show. The American guy is way too likeable.

"Never Say Never Again" (1983)
Sean Connery returns to his most iconic role - James Bond - in this "unofficial" 007 adventure that is not considered part of the "regular" Bond series. This flick was made independently by a different production team after a long series of legal wranglings between author Kevin McClory and the Ian Fleming estate that stretched back nearly 20 years.
The film is essentially a retread of 1965's "Thunderball," with 007 on the trail of two stolen nuclear missiles in the Bahamas, but it moves at a much slower pace and feels quite dated. This movie is at least a half hour too long, and aside from one hilariously cheesy scene set in a video-game arcade to put it in the "80s" time frame, everything else - from the sets to the technology and the music - looks and feels straight out of the 1960s.
Still, it's fun to see Connery playing Bond again with his usual self-satisfied cool, Klaus Maria Brandauer and Max Von Sydow have nice turns as the villains "Mr. Largo" and "Blofeld," and a young Kim Basinger plays the obligatory Bond Babe, "Domino."
Without the familiar "James Bond Theme" or the "gun barrel" opening, and with different actors playing "Q," "M," "Moneypenny," etc., "Never Say Never Again" is like watching a weird alternate-universe version of James Bond.
007 fans might dig it as a curiosity item, but it's not something I'll watch again anytime soon.

This afternoon at the theater saw The Grandmaster. I thought it was an excellent bio film about a legendary Kung Fu master (best known in the west as Bruce Lee's teacher). Even if you don't usually like subtitled foreign films I'd recommend it as it has more than enough well done drama for the girlfriend/wife and enough well choreographed fight scenes for the guys and you might even shed a tear or two at the end of the movie.
Nice cinematography, Thale herself is really easy on the eyes, and the other 2 main actors are pretty good. My problem is that the film just sort of...stops. It's obviously a micro-budget affair but there were so many possibilities left unexplored that I can only assume they ran out of money. And there are quite a few unexplained questions too.
Still, it's a very different movie based on (according to the interwebs) some Nordic legends originally created to keep little kids away from hazards like lakes.
Next up: Ice Age - Continental Drift. Then back to my more usual fare like 100 Bloody Acres and Only God Forgives.

I have no reason to not check it out again, so I'll probably do just that once I finish up the US series.

"A Good Day to Die Hard" (2013)
In his fifth (!) go-round as New York supercop John McClane, Bruce Willis' "Die Hard" series takes a turn into James Bond/Jason Bourne territory by going international. McClane heads to Russia to track down his estranged son, who happens to be a CIA operative. Together they uncover a plot to steal a secret stash of weapons-grade uranium from the abandoned Chernobyl nuke plant. Of course, lotsa stuff blows up along the way.
This one isn't the weakest of the "DH" series (that would be "...With a Vengeance" in my book) but it's not the best either. It's simple, big, loud, dumb, shoot'em up fun.
