I think Commando holds the worlds record for most continuity errors in a single film.

The Internship (2013)
Rose Byrne, as beautiful and classy as always...and the sole reason I watched this formulaic 80s retread. A few laughs, a strip club sequence featuring a fair amount of T&A and all the feel-good, "you can do it" speeches that you can possibly stomach.
Why the hell did I watch this? Oh yeah...

I'll find another movie to see her in. The whole idea of this film is beyond dumb (we're 40 so obviously, we have no idea what an app is! Ha ha! We're so old and stupid )
She is hot though!

I'm sure you've probably already seen her. Troy, Wicker Park, Marie Antoinette, Sunshine, 28 Weeks Later, Knowing, Get Him To The Greek, Insidious & Insidious 2, Bridesmaids, X-Men First Class, the tv series Damages and a bunch of Australian and independent films.

I watched a very poor martial arts movie called Lethal Ninja tonight.
I've seen dozens of martial arts movies over the years. Many were great, many were good, some were OK, and some were just decrepit. This falls into the last category. I know in terms of acting on a technical level, the genre isn't known for the best acting, but very, very few movies in the genre have acting half as bad as this one!
Wait a minute, I must make a correction on that last sentence. Very, very few movies in any genre have acting half as bad as this movie! And yes, that includes gonzo porn.
I could forgive some of the bad acting if the martial arts scenes were intense, exciting, and well choreographed.
Nope. The martial arts showdowns in this are bad at best and excruciating at worst.
The plot is pretty standard - man's wife is kidnapped, and he must save her. Pretty routine stuff. I can easily look past a generic plot if the movie tells its story well and provides intriguing twists and turns, but this tells its story very poorly. Plot holes left, right, and center. And despite being held hostage, the hero's wife never even tries to put up a fight and escape!
Overall, this is pretty bad stuff, but I guess if I can say anything nice about it, it holds some comedic value. On a negative slant, I doubt any of that comedic value was intentional. The movie took itself about as seriously as a Holocaust drama throughout.

The funniest scene involved the overturned Porsche. Actually it isn't funny, as it's just shoddy directing!

Everything about that movie is shoddy.
My favorite mistake are the cardboard cutout soldiers that rock forward and then spring back into position when the building blows up.

I wish we could save some of these runs! We're liable to need them tomorrow and we'll for sure need them Sunday. Liriano has owned the Cards this season.

That's a lot of mistakes . I was too busy laughing to notice, though!
Watched Madagascar 3 with the kids this morning. It had some completely 'left-field' moments of absurdity... which meant I really enjoyed it.

I think that "3" was the best of the series thus far.
...except every time my kids watch it, I get that damn "da-da-da-da-da, Afro, Circus, polka dot, polka dot, Afro, Afro" song stuck in my head for days afterward

Hey kids, it's THAT time of year again... SCHLOCK-TOBER at Casa Del Freddy!!
Tonight I kicked off my month long Halloween Horror Hootenanny with this oldy but goodie:
"Demons" (1985)
Italian horror maestros Dario Argento and Lamberto Bava collaborated on this stylish-but-nonsensical gore fest. Horror film viewers at a newly-reopened German movie palace suddenly have to fight for their lives when the flesh-eating murderous evil in the movie creeps off the screen and starts possessing members of the audience.
As usual with Italian horror flicks, the gore flows hot and heavy, the dialogue is awkward, the dubbing sucks and the story barely makes a lick of sense but the action moves so fast & furious that you won't even notice.
As an added bonus for metal nerds, tracks by Saxon, Accept, Motley Crue and Pretty Maids are heard during pivotal moments.

Greys Anatomy.
I love Demons, one of my favorite Italian horror films. But there's two things I always notice with Italian gore cinema, and this is coming from someone who has seen countless exploitation films, every zombie movie made up until a few years ago, the Faces of Death series, and gonzo porn:
1. the gore is the fakest of the industry, even with Argento's films, with a weird red-orange thick and gooey blood effect that kind of makes my skin crawl.
2. EVERY single giallo horror flick I've seen--Zombi 3 takes top award--leaves me with a sick feeling in my stomach, and get oddly and bizarrely depressed. I still have no idea why. It's not like they scare me or disturb me; they're goofy as hell and poorly crafted. It's like eating a poisoned candy apple.

I've noticed that too. It's almost cartoony. I think that had to have been done on purpose. For what purpose, I don't know.

I get a kick out of Italian flicks because they're just so "out there." Most of 'em have plot holes all over the place, ridiculously stilted dialogue and bad dubbing, and you can tell in most cases that they're trying sooooo hard to make their films look and sound "American" (and failing miserably)... but you can't deny they're entertaining as hell. They're like watching transmissions from some bizarre netherworld.

Speaking of Italian flicks, anyway ever see that abomination also known as 'Monster Dog' starring Alice Cooper, what is even funnier is dubbed Alice's voice with another actor.

I could be wrong but I believe "Monster Dog" was a Spanish production
I have a DVD-R of it that a friend made for me a couple of years ago but it's a VERY poor quality copy, so I've never been able to make it all the way thru the movie. The audio and picture aren't quite "in synch" (i.e., you hear dialogue being spoken about two seconds before the persons' lips move) which was driving me batshit crazy. Haha.
Now that you have me thinking about it, though, I should see if anybody has posted that flick on YouTube (which is where I watched "Demons" last night...)
