Luckily I missed that one. I had to drive out to Bedford today. I'm not sure how this thing will play out but it's been one hell of a fun central division race.
Sure has. And I think all three leaders in the NL Central are going to post-season. And to be honest, if the Cards don't win the division I hope the Pirates do. It's funny, around here no one really feels any animosity for Pittsburgh even though they've been our biggest rivals all season. Not like Cincinnatti; we HATE them!

Yeah that's pretty much the sentiment around here too. I think alot of our animosity stems from the Steelers-Bengals rivalry. I think Cincy has the worst sports fans around.

My Favorite Year (1982)
One of the best comedies of the 1980s, I never get tired of it. Peter O'Toole's tour de force performance as Alan Swan (aka Errol Flynn) made this an instant classic. Joseph Bologna puts on a brilliant comedic performance as well.

Oh, wow! I haven't seen or heard anyone talk about that film in years. Haven't seen it since I was a kid but it was a real favorite I want to see it now!

Even Mike Portnoy Facebook'd about it: "The pieces of the puzzle are falling into place so perfectly on Breaking Bad...this may be one of the best written shows in TV history."

"Back to the Future Part III" (1990)
Returning to 1985 after his last adventure in the time-tripping DeLorean, Marty McFly discovers that his old pal Doc Brown was killed in the Old West, so he races off to the frontier era to save him. Third and final installment in the "BttF" series is fun and action packed (as usual) with a lot of laughs.

i dont know. I thought it was a pretty lousy movie. I like the other two but this one seemed like a blatant grab for cash...

I picked up that entire trilogy not too long ago since the price on both the blue-ray and dvd sets is fairly reasonable now. The transfer on the blue-ray set in particular is one of the better looking ones I've seen in a while.

Speaking of remakes in the other thread, I caught John Carpenter's 1995 remake of Village Of The Damned.starring Christopher Reeve, a still-hot Kirstie Alley and Mark Hamill. Not too bad a movie but pretty much a by the numbers remake.

My ten year old has suddenly become obsessed with the "BttF" films so I may be looking into a DVD box of the trilogy for him for Christmas.

Back To The Future III was a definite improvement over Part II. The second film had SO many product placements in it that I lost track of the story trying to catch all the ads. That film always seemed like a bloated, humorless, over-produced mess. The nice thing about III was the smaller scale, the addition of Mary Steenburgen to the cast...and the inability to put product placements in an old west tale (thanks for small favors).

The less said about John Carpenter's suck-ass remake of Village Of The Damned (the original is a near-masterpiece of sci-fi/horror) the better.
"BttF" Part II had its moments but it zig-zagged back and forth between 1955, 1985, and 2015 that it was tough to keep up... at least when the action in "III" moved to the Old West, it stayed there!

Yeah, that one is OK but nothin' special.
If memory serves, that was one of Reeve's last films - if not the last film he did - before the horse riding accident that paralyzed him.

I always thought III was better than II - the second one seemed to only exist to bridge the gap between I and III.. fun flick, but they could have done much better. I need to upgrade my set to Blu-Ray one of these days!
Watched the past few days:
Download 2013 (HD version on Palladia) Dr. No From Russia With Love (Bond marathon on Encore) Iron Maiden - Ullevi 2005 DVD boot Akira (blu-ray, switched to the Japanese with subtitles - the overdub wasn't that great and the original sounded much better)
BTTF II was a massive disappointment for sci-fi fans as well. Here we expected something groundbreaking, fun, and cool, we get the opposite. It feels more like a queer parody. Very uncharacteristic of Zemeckis' style, especially in the dime-store humor.
III was badass. Unlike II, it was actually true to the genre it was inspired by.
Saw it twice: once in the theater, and then revisited it a second time a few years back to see if it was bad as I remember it. It was worse.
The greatest disappointment is that there is a BTTF trilogy, and only the first one was created with an ambitious amount of creativity and charm. I mean, III was good but...I think it was a poor idea to purposefully retread certain memorable scenes from the first one just to get some laughs. It backfired.
Gangster Squad.....classic example of getting fooled by the preview. Awesome cast, awesome first quarter, and then it tries to be Tombstone while forgetting all the things that really made Tombstone so great. Walking around the house after it's over, I find the film has no effect on me. Agggghhh, such a waste!!!

Yeah, I could have saved you some time on that one. Completely missed the scope it needed to be successful, instead it was just a generic action movie.

The rumour is that Dyson have bought the rights to this film in an attempt to find out how it manages to suck and blow all at the same time!

"Age of Dinosaurs" (2013)
In this zero-budget "Jurassic Park" variant from those wacky guys at The Asylum, a geneticist (Ronny Cox of "RoboCop") has developed a way to clone dinosaurs ... but of course, something goes horribly wrong at the creatures' big unveiling to the public and media, and soon giant lizards are rampaging through Los Angeles. Treat Williams is an L.A. firefighter who just wants to keep his daughter safe from the chaos.
As usual with Asylum flicks, things start out promising (the CGI on the dinosaurs looks almost competent for a while!) but quickly descend into utter silliness.
