I don't have even one of those, though the Vicious Rumors is on the want list.

My list hasn't really changed since September (except a couple position changes), so far I've got a definite "Top 9", still waiting to figure out whether I'll expand that to a definite 10 or not.

Really enjoying Deep Purple - Now What?! over the past few days.

I think my number one is going to be the debut release from Bosnian Rainbows (featuring Omar Rodriguez-Lopez and Deantoni Parks of The Mars Volta). This would be 2 years in a row my favorite new release was not a metal album (last year it was The Gathering - Disclosure).

let's see, I guess I've only purchased 6 new releases. I like them all, but here's how I'd rank them.

1) Bosnian Rainbows - Bosnian Rainbows
2) The Dillinger Escape Plan - One of Us is the Killer
3) Revocation - Revocation
4) Extol - Extol
5) Killswitch Engage - Disarm the Descent
6) Living Sacrifice - Ghost Thief

I also bought the Bosnian Rainbows album, I like it but I don't think that it's going to make my top ten though.

Turtle Neck is a great song too though.

I've got to be honest, I had to spin this again to answer your question properly. I bought this album at the same time as some great stuff that grabbed me more instantly, but hearing it again, it's a fantastic record that is getting better with each listen.

Teri has a fantastic voice!

Teri has a fantastic voice!

I was initially drawn mostly to Torn Maps and Turtle Neck. But lately it's been Morning Sickness quite a bit. Mother Father Set Us Free is awesome too. I agree that Teri's voice is simply awesome. Have you seen any of their concert footage? Her on-stage presence is strange to say the least.

Bosnian Rainbows is nothing like The Mars Volta but I enjoy this album as much as TMV. Definitely didn't see this coming when TMV broke up.

i am anxious to get the new Artillery, '77, Bloodgood and Deliverance. While 2013 may be coming to an end there are some still some good stuff coming.

2nd album of the year, they are raising so fast, next year their popularity/glory will be on top.

I don't get the hype on these guys. This album didn't really do anything for me. They have a cool image/look for sure, but the music isn't really anything to write home about.

Ghost is fun for a lark but honestly there is no staying power to their music (at least as far as I'm concerned).  The debut album I listened to like crazy for about a month and then I was burnt out on it and that was it.  This new album lasted about half that time, played it several times for the first couple weeks and that was plenty.  I have no issues with them but I also won't bother spending any more money on their releases.

yes i agree, i felt same as you described. but after 58x plays i changed my mind.
i like that "new" soft metal style. probably not so popular in US but here in EU as Sweden band, it'll take short time to come in the big festivals spot. they are already but commercially they are pushed forward everywhere.

I enjoyed the first Ghost album (and still do), but the follow-up didn't click with me liked I hoped. I'll have to revisit that one though to see how it holds up in relation to some other quality 2013 releases.

Have to agree - I like the first one much better than the second. They seem to have hit that "sophomore slump." I haven't rushed out to pick up the new EP but will get it someday.

Agreed. The first album was better and then they became pretty boring.

"Ritual" is an awesome song.

The song Zombie Queen on the new album is awesome however.

not a Ghost fan either, refreshing to find a few other people who don't think the band is the greatest thing ever ever ever..

I'm not sure that anyone on here thinks that they are the best band ever, but they are decent. However they are about my fifth or sixth current favorite retro band from Sweden (admittedly I love a lot of that stuff!)

I agree that they have little long term hold. I also went crazy for both records for a short while but revisit very seldomly.

So I heard that Onslaught album in full today. Three times in a row.

Make that four; I'm listening to it now.

Definitely up there on my list, let me tell you. Makes me want to viciously throw hammers at cinder blocks.
