We're getting close to the halfway point of 2013, what are the albums that would make your "best of" list at this point in the game?
At the moment I have 3 albums that will comfortably make my list at the end of the year:
1. Steven Wilson - The Raven That Refused To Sing (and other stories) 2. Deep Purple - Now What?! 3. Riverside - Shrine Of New Generation Slaves
Reissue: Jimi Hendrix - People, Hell & Angels
There are other releases that I've enjoyed (Spiritual Beggars, Ghost, Kadavar) but not nearly at the same level as the ones mentioned above. I'm interested to see what the next 7 months will bring.

At the moment, Riverside and Ghost seem guaranteed to make my list. Helloween will probably make it, depending on what else I get. Adrenaline Mob's ep is probably going to wind up getting crowded out if I get enough other releases from this year, though.

I'd agree with those two; then add Enforcer and Holy Grail's new albums, and you've got my list. I still need to check out the new Deep Purple, too.
And I didn't know there were new Alcest and Sigur Ros releases coming this year, thanks for the heads up. I really enjoy both of them.

Hmm, considering the number of rotations, I decide on 'Sacrifice - Saxon'.

Now, I didn't enjoy the new Helloween at all really. It was pretty boring.
Another competitor for my favorite is Hope for the Dying's new album.
Really good progressive tech-death, with some metalcore influence (mainly in the vocals).

If I wasn't jamming out to some Kate Bush, I'd give it a listen right now (you can't just pause the art pop masterpiece that is Hounds of Love!). I'll add it to my watch later list on YouTube.

Giving it a listen now... I enjoy the psychedelic vibe it has; the cover art led me to believe it would be cool. The use of both electric and acoustic guitar simultaneously is a nice touch. Thanks for the recommendation.

The only 2013 releases I currently own are the new Beatallica, Anthrax's "Anthems" EP and the Dust/Hard Attack reissue... I've listened to a couple of others on Spotify like the new Warrior Soul (2012 Euro release, 2013 US release) and Stryper... oh, and Tatesryche's "FU" of course.
I've enjoyed all of them to some degree (yes, even the Tateryche!), but nothin' this year has truly blown my doors off yet.

Deep Purple's Now What is best release thus far. I did like Stryper's Second Coming, Saxon's Sacrifice and the new Ghost. Looking forward to the new Queensryche and Sabbath!
