Always thought that 2001 was just an "alright" film. Never understood the hoopla over it.
Last night, I watched Universal's 1935 Werewolf Of London, their first werewolf picture. Pretty interesting take on the genre, considering Henry Hull's wolfman makes sure to grab his hat and cloak before he goes out on the hunt. A rather enjoyable film,I think.

Yeah I've seen 2001 multiple times and while I appreciate the individual sections I have never understood the story as a whole.
The last time I saw "2001" I was in my early teens - when my mind wasn't quite ready for Stanley Kubrick yet. I didn't "get it" at the time, and I guess 30 years later I still don't, though nowadays I can at least appreciate the artistry that went into it.
In the late '70s Marvel Comics published a short-lived, wonderfully schlocky "2001" comic book series by Jack Kirby, which I liked better than the movie as a kid. It had everything I felt the movie lacked, i.e. action and explosions, and Kirby's artwork was just freakin' insane.
If memory serves, it was cancelled after ten issues.

And included the first appearance of Machine Man in one of the issues.

" 2001" is a work of art, storytelling wise, well its Kubrick who's made some great films, I feel this is more a visual fest for the eyes then linear story telling.
I had forgotten about "2001" one comic book from Marvel, I owned one issue, I have not seen that comic book in ages.

I had all ten issues in my old collection. They were part of Jack Kirby's late '70s period (later dubbed the "Jack the Hack" era) when he was barfing out tons of ridiculous, short lived stuff for both Marvel and DC (anyone remember "Omac, One Man Army Corps," "The Demon," or "Devil Dinosaur?") ... most of the stuff he produced at that time was cancelled quickly and none of it was very collectible... so those "2001" issues turned up regularly in comic shop "quarter boxes" everywhere I went in the early 80s.

That's right!! They introduced him (as "Mister Machine") in the last issue or two of the "2001" book and then spun him off into his own series for a while.

(4)Michigan St vs (18)Ohio St. Man, the Big 10 is just brutal this year. It will be interesting to see how many teams this conference gets in the tourney. The 7th ranked team in the conference has 18 wins!

It was meh.
Saw it earlier today - I thought it was good, but not great. Script needed some work and it would have been a better flick with a better director.
I saw it tonight. It wasn't terrible, but it wasn't great. I will agree it would have been better with a better director.
It's easily the weakest of the five. I would only recommend it to die hard fans of the series (pun intended).

My thoughts too - if you are a fan of the series, you'll enjoy the flick

Abraham Lincoln:Vampire Hunter - I didn't it was as bad as it was made out to be and an OK way to pass 90 minutes, but it wasn't great or as good as it could be. Worth a Netflix queue add. not worth paying to see in the theater....... It seem to play like a SyFY Movie of the week (with a much bigger budget) making it worthy of a Fat Freddy b movie hub page!

I haven't seen "AL: VH" yet but I did do a Hubpage about the low-budget wanna-be, "Abraham Lincoln Vs. Zombies," a while back

Life Of Pi (2012)
Truly stunning film, Ang Lee uses the groundbreaking visual effects as service to great storytelling...where so many other filmmakers use them as a replacement for lack of a great story. This film works on all levels, a brilliant achievement.

So his Best Director Oscar was well-deserved, eh?
