The Prestige
Batman kills Wolverine's wife, so he employs Tesla to make him a transmorgifying machine. The Black Widow and Alfred Pennyworth star as well. Also MAGIC!!
The above sentance makes about as much sense as the movie. But it's still awesome as f*ck.

Excellent flick, my favorite Christopher Nolan film overall. Very impressive production, I was especially enamored of the art direction, they did a brilliant job capturing the period detail.
Interesting trivia: Rebecca Hall (impressive as Bale's wife) and Scarlett Johansson did this film together and then when Woody Allen saw the film he hired both of them to star together in Vicky Christina Barcelona.

I liked that even though they sort of explain things in the end, I'm still trying to figure out what happened 2 days after watching the movie. And now knowing how it ends, I want to watch it again to pick up on the little clues dropped throughout the movie.
I enjoy films that you have to re-watch to figure it all out.
Useless triva: This weekend, my wife (who works part-time with an event planner), will be working closely with Hugh Jackman who is emceeing the event. I have some questions for Hugh that I want answered.

I figured it out before the end.... there were clues throughout the movie. It didn't stop me from enjoying the flick, very good movie!

David Bowie was an added bonus, all I had to see in the preview was Scarlet Johansson and I was on board.

Watched John Dies At The End for the 2nd night in a row. Still a screwed up movie but I think I love it.

I'd watch a whole movie of Bowie playing Tesla. He was great.

"For Your Eyes Only" (1981)
Roger Moore's fifth spin as 007 brings James Bond back "down to earth" after the space-faring "Moonraker," sending him on a mission to the Mediterranean to recover a missing missile-launch computer system. Along the way he battles the bad guys on skis, in cars, on top of mountains, and even at the bottom of the ocean.
"FYEO" has some decent action scenes but runs a bit longer than it really needs to. Overall I'd say it's a middling entry in the series, but it earns bonus points due to the presence of the cute-as-a-button Lynn-Holly Johnson, who plays a bubbly blond figure-skating bimbo who's fixated on James.

Lynn-Holly Johnson would be more entertaining if she didn't speak, damn she's irritating in that movie! For Your Eyes Only is really the last halfway decent Roger Moore film as Bond before the utter embarrassments that are Octopussy and A View To A Kill.
Tonight, one of my favorite films of the 1990s...

She was my first celebrity crush - hell she may have been the impetus for the child me to start liking girls. Octopussy and AVTAK are two of my favorite Bonds. Although admittedly they were the first two I saw and the nostalgia factor is heavy.

I remember at the time loving this and Terminal Velocity. I even didn't dislike The Chase at all. For a guy who has become a joke he sure did a ton a movies I'm a fan of.
I loved "The Chase," I saw it again about a year ago and I still laughed my ass off. Henry Rollins is great and Kristy ("Buffy") Swanson was baked to absolute hottie perfection at that point.

I can take or leave Octopussy but for some reason I've always enjoyed View To A Kill. Yeah, Moore was way too geezer for the Bond role by that point but Christopher Walken is a great villain in that one (nobody plays batsh*t crazy like him!) and, well, Tanya Roberts in a satin bathrobe. Nuff said.

If you've got a problem with Tanya Roberts in a satin bathrobe, then I ponder your sanity.

That has one of my favorite Moore scenes in it. The one where Bond chases the killer in the car to the top of the mountain and causes him to lose control, teetering on the edge. Bond casually and cold bloodedly kicks the car off the edge. THAT's the way Bond was written.

Yeah, that was pretty bad-ass, kinda like a throwback to the Connery era for a minute there.
I also like Bond's wise Chinese proverb in this one: "Before setting out for revenge, first dig two graves."

"Almost Famous" (2000)
A dorky California teen manages to B.S. his way into a writing assignment for Rolling Stone and joins an on-the-rise band called "Stillwater" on the road, where he learns about life, music, love, and of course, groupies. Cameron ("Jerry Maguire") Crowe based this charming rock 'n' roll coming of age tale on his own experiences as a young music journalist in the early 1970s.
Great soundtrack and an excellent cast including Kate Hudson, Philip Seymour Hoffman (as the legendary "Creem" magazine editor Lester Bangs), Jason Lee, and Frances McDormand. This is one of my favorite rock movies. If you haven't seen it, do so.
Great movie! Wasn't Stillwater opening for Sabbath on that tour?

Yep, when the kid first meets Stillwater they're opening for Sabbath at his local arena. His assignment from Lester Bangs of Creem was actually to get "1000 words on Black Sabbath," but the bouncer won't let him in the backstage door. When the Stillwater guys arrive late, he sneaks in with them and ends up interviewing them instead.
I don't think Stillwater were still touring w/Sabbath by the time Rolling Stone sends the kid "on the road" with them though, cuz Sabbath is never mentioned again for the rest of the movie.
