Parental outrage over the smutty antics of Canadian comics Terrance and Philip cause the U.S. to declare war on Canada, and Stan, Kyle, Cartman and the gang are caught in the middle. Just to make things even worse, Satan and his lover Saddam Hussein are waiting in the wings to take over the Earth unless the kids can stop it.
This feature length musical version of the Comedy Central 'toon is bizarre, tasteless, twisted, profane, and occasionally disgusting, but still totally hilarious all the way through.
I'm not really a South Park fan but I picked this up used a long time ago and couldn't believe how much I laughed the first time I watched it. The scariest thing to me is how the songs stick in your head which of course means the lyrics also stick in your head. Like the song from the Terrence and Phillip movie.

I dug the show when it first blew up big but haven't watched it in years now. I think the "South Park" phenomena peaked with this movie (at least for me). After the crap they got away with in this movie the TV show actually felt kinda tame.
...and yeah, the songs in this thing are catchy as hell, particularly "Uncle F**ka" and the "Kyle's Mom" song.

Animal Cops Houston: No matter how many of these I see, I'm still shocked at how some people treat animals or how bad animal hoarding can get. Not alone, as the ASPCA agents that deal with that crap everyday never get used to seeing that stuff.

"The Amazing Spider-Man" (2012)
Mostly satisfying "reboot" of the Spidey saga starts things over from scratch as high school science dork Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield) achieves fantastic powers via a radioactive spider-bite, romances the lovely Gwen Stacy (Emma Stone) and battles the mutant Lizard (Rhys Ifans).
This flick is a vast improvement over the dead-on-arrival "Spider-Man 3," and though at first I wasn't sure how I would dig the new casting, it didn't take long for me to realize that I didn't miss Tobey Maguire, Kirsten Dunst, or any of the old gang at all.
Sam Raimi's Spidey trilogy was very much a representation of the old school Lee/Ditko Spider-Man of the '60s, but this version is more like the Todd MacFarlane era of the 80s/90s - a little darker and grittier, but still with the humor and heart. You all know what a Spidey Fanboy I am, and I went into this one preparing to judge it harshly, but in the end the new team did a great job and I was entertained. Bring on the next one.

Love how "rappers" do these parts so over the top and are merely playing the same part they do onstage and..... someone like me who is mostly oblivious is supposed to remain that way.

Very silly, very camp and very funny in parts.
Yeah, it's mostly a hoot. With better dialogue it could have been really good, as it stands it's mediocre but still entertaining.
Watched this one last night and agree - fun flick that could have been excellent with better dialogue

I was completely disappointed by it. The trailer looked like fun but failed to make most of its potential. I actually think that i liked the Asylum "rip-off" Nazis at the Center of the Earth a bit better. At least it had Robo-Hitler and was beyond stupid, with very bad CGI, overacting at its finest and dumb dialogues. In fact the best cheesy Nazimovie i've seen far was the short (just about 45 minutes) movie "Der Goldene Nazivampir von Absam 2 – Das Geheimnis von Schloß Kottlitz" (The Golden Nazi Vampire of Absam 2 - The Secret of Castle Kottlitz) which is just fun, especially if you know Wolfenstein 3D as the main protagonist is William B.J. Blazkowicz and they get some Wolfenstein references in it (with the blessing of id Software)
Speaking of Asylum i think some of their rip-offs are better than the "originals". Like that crappy Battleship movie, i take the mediocre but more entertaining American Warships (with Carl Weathers and Mario van Peebles) over it any day. Same with Transmorphers, it's not half as boring as Transformers is.
Now watching: Knight Rider - Goliath Returns. Knight Rider is awesome

I love The Asylum's flicks. They're godawful but I can't get enough of 'em My favorite was "Two Headed Shark Attack."

I watched this with very low expectations because frankly, I thought it was silly to reboot a series so soon after the original. I understand the only reason was because if they didn't make something they would lose the rights to the character, so it was a "contractual obligation" film. That by itself didn't exactly fill me with great hope.
However, I thought for the most part they did a respectable job. The new cast was good and I thought they handled the character development in an engaging way. The slightly less comedic tone worked well and besides...I'm not going to complain about looking at Emma Stone for a couple hours. My favorite scene in the movie was the little comedic sequence where she tries to keep her Dad from coming into her room, expertly played and very funny.
My main issue was that once all the action kicked in during the second half I kinda lost interest, I didn't find that part nearly as engaging as the beginning. I'm getting pretty burnt out on superhero CGI spectaculars unless they are handled really well (like Joss Whedon's Avengers for example). The villain really didn't seem threatening to me and overall was just kinda silly looking.
As a whole I thought it was "okay" (** 1/2 out of ****) for a completely unnecessary film but I'm hoping they can do a more fully satisfying job on the next installment.

I loved The Amazing Spider-Man not so much for the plot but because of the chemistry between the kid playing Spidey and Emma Stone.
I agreeded when I first heard of the reboot, I thought that was dumb idea, but now I have seen it, I loved the flick.

"The Texas Chain Saw Massacre" (1974)
Reading the absolutely savage reviews of the new "Texas Chainsaw 3D" gave me a jones to watch Tobe Hooper's original "TCM" again, which I haven't seen in 20 years at least. You all know the story, what little there is of it - a group of five youngsters on a trip thru the backroads of Texas run afoul of Leatherface and his demented cannibal clan. Bludgeoning, meat hooking, and of course chain sawing immediately follow.
Pretty shocking for its time, this is still a fairly nasty, grungy little flick even by today's standards. My only complaints are the flat ending, and the fact that the "final girl" does absolutely nothing but scream, scream, scream her head off for the last 30 minutes or so, which begins to grate on the nerves after a while. Seriously, I was like "Pleeeeease stuff the rag back in her mouth and shut her the hell up!"
Special note, the version I watched is the "2 Disc Ultimate Version" DVD, which is restored and remastered and features a second disc full of bonus geek goodies. Splatter hounds, this is your definitive "TCM" experience.

I thought it was too soon for a reboot, but the chemistry between Peter and Gwen was fantastic -he had the right amount of awkwardness for a teen and she had the right amount of sass. The scene with his emerging powers on the train was hilarious, and the bridge set piece was full of energy, but the climax, swinging through town to fight the Lizard, was just OK. It lacked urgency and genuine threat, and the film did peter out (pun intended) in that last half.
Oh -I watched E.T. -The Extra-Terrestrial last night for the first time in about 20 years. It holds up beautifully, bringing back a lot of memories.

Yep. His first "job" in Hollywood.
TCM still amazes me. People think it's sooooo gory but in reality there's very little actual gore in it. And after repeated viewings some of the black humor really comes out.

Yep, and according to the movie's "trivia" section on IMDb, the "payment" for his services was a marijuana joint. Haha.

Yeah, when I first saw it years ago I was actually kinda surprised at how relatively bloodless it is cuz it had this rep as being the goriest, nastiest film ever made. I was actually kinda afraid to watch it at first. When I finally did, I was like "that's it?"
...of course, Hooper made up for the lack of gore in this one in "TCM 2."
